Description "Right-a-roony!!  Say hello to the new and improved HARLEY QUINN!!!"

Harleen Frances Quinzel was no angel.  As a teenage girl, she won a gymnastics scholarship to Gotham State University, but her real goal was a degree from the university's esteemed psychology department.  Nevermind that she wanted to get it by studying, she wanted to become one of those annoying pop psychologists with her own line of self-help books like Dr. Phill.  All that changed however, when she interned at Arkham Asylum...

On her first day there, she caught the attention of Arkham's most infamous inmate:  The Joker.  He instantly felt, that in that twisted psychotic head of his, that he had found someone who was even more of a screwloose than he was, and he felt he'd be able to push her over the fence to becoming a homicidal maniac like he was.  So, intrigued to know more about the Joker's secrets, she became the personal psychiatrist to the Clown Prince of Crime.  However, he used his wiles and charm on her.  That was when Harleen came to view the Joker as a tortured soul crying out for love and affection, and everywhere he tried to bring laughter was the menacing figure of Batman.  Indeed, over the months, Harleen had, as unprofessional as it sounded, fallen in love with her patient.

After a horrible sight when Batman and Catwoman brought Joker in after he escaped, Harleen finally snapped.  She made herself a costume, used her paycheck to have her skin bleached and busted into Arkham, freeing the Joker.  And that was how Harleen Quinzel became Harley Quinn...

For Harley's costume, I was very much inspired by her classic outfit from Batman: The Animated Series, but with some modifications, such as the V-neck and sleeveless look, and no jester cowl look, but only a red domino mask.  She's the ex-girlfriend of the Joker, as she received the brunt of his anger and is abused from time to time.  However, she is now the wife of Pamela Isley, AKA Poison Ivy.  Out of all Batman's rogues, Harley is by far the most agile, and also has been known for saying outrageous things in anger.  One such instance was when she was being sent to Arkham after a deal with Joker and Lex Luthor to kill Superman went awry thanks in part to Batman's help.  While being placed into the PTV, she was seen shouting: "I want a lawyer!!  I want a doctor!!  I want a cheese sandwich!!!"

Oh, and she’s also an avid fan of the anime, Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-Chan.

Disclaimer:  Harley Quinn belongs to DC Comics, Paul Dini and Bruce Timm.

I know you've taken some inspiration from Injustice in the past, so I have to ask... does Harley's daughter Lucy exist in your universe?

Maybe...but with different parentage.

Not that surprised, honestly. After Nubia's birth anything seems possible...

Well, Ivy has her ways, given her physiology. I figured that Lucy would be happier by knowing who exactly her parents were.

And Ivy does have a soft spot for children...

That she does. The two of them were meant for each other. How far we’ve come!

I've mentioned this before, but Harley and Ivy are my favorite comic book pairing. Like a lot of my favorite couples, they bring out the best in each other. Harley brings out Ivy's humanity and Ivy brings out Harley's independence from the Joker.

Oh I quite agree! I was inspired for Harley to finally rid herself of Joker’s influence after watching that iconic cutscene from Injustice 2. For more info, I recommend watching the Extra Credits episode dealing with trauma in video games.

It's kinda funny to think how Harley initially started out as a walk-on role, but has since become so much more than the Joker's sidekick and girlfriend.

She made quite the impression that her popularity has brought her to new heights.

Does the Joker genuinely care about Harley in this universe?

Not really. He only sees her as a henchgirl, a pawn for him to use so he can take down Batman. Though Ivy genuinely cares for Harley, and she feels the same way. Though in this universe, the Joker does die later on, and so Harley ends up reforming herself and spending more and more time helping Ivy down the same path to recovery and the two even are a part of the Suicide Squad.

Thanks! I wanted to take the character back to her roots and went with a sexier version of her look in Batman The Animated Series, one of the best animated TV shows in history!!

Actually, I kinda like Justice League Action. And besides, if they have Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprising their roles of Batman and Joker, then it had to be good.

Except with Young Justice. I thought it was meh, but they did an amazing portrayal of Kid Flash. I sorta kept that personality of his from Young Justice for my take on Wally in his youth, as one of the co-founders of the Teen Titans.
