Happy birthday Myou! I hope you're happy. I am too lazy to write a story or anything, so!I really like birdcages.
This is somewhat inspired by a fairly dark and disturbing chat, where I got to bounce appropriately horrid ideas with although I'm worried our horrible ideas will never be as terrifying as those poggle things, the slipper stuffed animals things. Those are so messed up... Uh, yeah, anyway, Vio in drag. Yeah. I wanted to draw him in a bird cage after I said something about him being a broken bird, and the dress just helped the image along more.

Not at all. Links wearing dresses and female clothes are canon as of Triforce Heroes and Breath of the Wild anyway! Which I'm thrilled about, because not enough games let you dress your character in whatever you want.
I wanted to draw him in a dress and a cage. A friend ended up writing a fanfic scene around the image and now a few people think I'm just ~the best~ at painting what that friend described... but, ah, I'm not nearly so good at transcribing passages from stories as all that. For what it's worth, our posited explanation at the time - and what she ended up writing - was that he was in the cage because the person keeping him prisoner is a HUGE DRAMA QUEEN who would revel in having a dolled up hero in a giant bird cage (which they obtained from Majora, who seems the most likely of any series villains to have a giant bird cage laying about. If you can imagine Majora having anything laying about).
But that was reasoning during painting/post process, and the image started because I really wanted to paint Vio in a dress and a cage. Sometimes there are good reasons for these things, so it's always worth asking - but a lot of the oddities in my gallery are due to blatant author appeal.

Ah, assuming it hasn't been taken down, it's available on fanfiction.net... but it's a dark fic with noncon, torture and a lot of mess around it. Are you sure? (I can see about getting the scene out of context, if you want to see but would rather not read the chapters leading up to it. As I recall there was nothing explicit about the scene, mostly just the villain bragging).

Wow, it's been 4 years since I first saw this (from reading Traitor) and I'm just now saying something. I was in love with that story, and your art is just so beautiful! Because of this specific piece of art, years ago, I'd decided my new favorite color was purple. And it still is! God, I can't even explain why I love this picture so much. I mean, I love the color, and just the picture itself, but I can't decide on one specific thing. Your art is very beautiful!

Just started reading traitor and holy shit, I was a bit weary at first but I love it! I've had rants about shadow and green and vatti but then I feel so bad for shadow and vio and HHH....kinda think vio looks good in that dress *shrug*

Traitor is fun because years later both the author and I look back on it at random and discuss what came out well and what makes us wince. Unfortunately its sequel won't be finished, because real life has essentially eradicated the author's free time.
