  Coming from her roots, anyone who recognizes the Chandler name would assume that Auburn would for sure go into the ranching business. It was their signature line of work, built up enough over the years to establish branches along the way; Ranching supplies, cattle and sheep breeding, and a multitude of ranches scattered throughout the region of Sinnoh. So it was a surprise to all when Auburn declared that she wanted to go into farming instead.

As a young Charmander she was fully accepting of the family business, enjoying her time growing up around it. Running about the Mareep, fiddling with the Miltank, brushing the Ponyta was how Auburn spent her childhood, but these time consuming tasks couldn't hold back her growing passion for her hobby: berry keeping. She would read "How To" books before running off to water the bushes growing outside of her home, taking care of the delicate branches that her grandfather had planted years ago. This new experience gave her a sense of calm in her sometimes hectic life, though it would always get her excited when she thought about her secret berries. The best part of it all? It was a part of her life that didn't involve her stinky brothers.

While ultimately being loving siblings, Gabriel and Julian were full of nothing short of mischief. Hard working while their parents were around, the Charmeleon and Grovyle duo were full of trouble and tricks. Their baby sister was often their target for pranks, but in the end they'd always take her side- especially if it meant finding a way to goof off without mom and dad. They'd often come up with an excuse about their sisters whereabouts whenever she wasn't around for chores, allowing the Charmander alone time with her secret.

After discovering her love for berries Auburn began taking more and more time out of her day to care for the plants. At some point she was sneaking off to get more informational books and sneaking new seeds out of her grandfather's office in order to plant them among the other bushes; of course as a child she didn't think that anyone would catch her. She didn't think that any adults would notice the growing berry horde nor the smell of fresh berries that followed her everywhere. Her parents didn't seem notice, at least. One person of the family did though.

Her paternal grandfather, a happy old Furret named Samuel, had spent his early years in a farming/ranching duo with his wife; his particular specialty was berry farming. So of course when his "How To" books ended up scattered about his office and his new seeds went missing every other week he knew who the culprit was. Being the doting grandfather he was, Samuel wasn't keen to pass on Auburn's secret hobby to her parents. The only thing he would do was reorganize the books and add a fresh stock of seeds back into his office drawer when needed.

After years of cultivating her skills and bushes alongside learning the family trade, Auburn reached what her parents considered to be a reasonable age to stake a claim to a part of the company. At the ripe age of 19, Auburn was suddenly faced with the fact that she'd have to chose her parents path of taking on the family business with her brothers or staking her claim on what she really wanted to do with life; farm. The Charmander took a deep breath, and hoped that her words would be heard.

Her parents were a bit baffled about her proclamation at first; farming? Since when? The two of them needed to consult with each other on how to proceed. Do they hand over everything to the boys now? What about the new gift they had just gotten her in celebration? How could they have missed this over the years? It took Samuel reminding the couple about the ever growing berry farm surrounding the homestead, reaching into several corners of the property, and how it had started out as a little patch next to the house many years ago. With bemused sighs and a new plan in motion, the Chandler parents came back to their daughter with a new offer.

Auburn would take up a small property in a nearby region, where she would begin branching out into new territory for the business; farming! And while they hadn't prepared a gift catered towards anything other than ranching, her parents gave her a gift to help her get started- a Growlithe pup called Xander. They weren't sure if he could help with her new life, but he could at the very least be considered a companion. Though of course her father fully encouraged he be used for other tasks if she ever chose to do so (one of many suggestions being sheep herding).

  A few months of preparation and the Charmander was ready to leave. A kiss from mom, a kiss from dad, and a warm hug to each. With her goodbyes given to her family, Auburn left for the island chain of Raccolto, and began her new farming life.

  By the time she became 21, Auburn had transformed. Many mysterious things had happened on Raccolto before, but never had she suspected that any of them could become permanent. It took her by extreme surprise when she was offered a mask at that Cirque de la Lune and became a Quilladin; this astonishment didn’t quite set in until after the circus had left and she was still in her altered totem! But the woman has grown some since this change- coming across hard times and sad times, gaining and losing a love, and growing her farm ever so slightly. Seeing her mother during a holiday even brightened her outlook on this “new life”, and she has become inspired to work harder at friends and love after being able to accept herself. She considered returning to her roots a little and starting up a ranch... However, life doesn't always go as planned, as it led her to return too far to her roots.

Auburn left the islands for around a year and a half in order to help care for her family's business; the twins had gone off to take short term courses in business and her parents desperately needed an extra hand around to take care of the workload her brother's left behind. Originally she was only supposed to be there for a few months until extra help could be hired, but the Quilladin fell back into her home lifestyle and ended up staying until the twins could return. Auburn's father attempted to coax her back into the family business once again, mentioning how much she enjoyed her time at home, but the woman still refused and decided to return once again to Raccolto to continue her life as a farmer. Sadly, she had sold her previous property beforehand, unsure of how long she was going to stay and not wanting to leave it to waste, so now she must find a new home and start from scratch.

Before she left, Auburn decided it was best to leave Xaden (her Arcanine from before) behind so her parents could use him as the herder he was intended to be, taking a new Growlithe pup with her named Titus.

   After living on the islands for a couple of years again, Auburn has been reacquainted with some old friends, met some new, and has even found something more with another resident of the Atoll, Zachary Hollo. This change in their dynamic has scared her some, as experience tells her that this won't end well. During this time of her turbulence, Auburn was offered a Charizard Mask from one of the Cirque de la Lune entertainers, and she had felt even more out of balance after receiving it. Everything had been on track for what she wanted and thought she needed, and now these two things have come in and turned everything upside down.

  Auburn spent over a year with the mask with no change, as well as a year avoiding pushing her relationship any further with Zach, until one day she discovered that he, too, had been offered an opportunity to change. Learning of this gave her the courage that she had needed, knowing that he was unsure about the future as well; it meant they could learn and grow together, instead of one of them being left behind. Taking that step with him, Auburn has used the mask to become a Charizard, embracing their unknown destiny together.

As a young Charmander Auburn was very active; running around her family's homestead and play with their various ranch Pokémon. It wasn't unusual for someone to see her running up to business partners visiting the ranch to introduce herself, even if she had met them before. Having spunk was her most notable characteristic, and she held onto that fact.

Of course being a little on the hyper side would give a child an abundance of confidence, and it went hand in hand for Auburn as she showed off anything and everything! The littlest drawing in the dirt or the one patch of fur that she brushed on the Ponyta, boy was she quick to let someone know of her hard work. The pride paid off, allowing her to grow up as a young woman not afraid to prove her worth with hard work and let others know of her accomplishments- of course those bragging rights were only presented when asked about as an adult!

With such strong emotions, Auburn can be a bit temperamental at times. She can get easily emotional when her pride is hurt or an insult is flung at someone she cares deeply about. Being a fire type again, and a Charizard no less, can sometimes exacerbate these emotions causing her to go into a fit with little to no trigger sometimes. If you see an angry frown on this girls face, you better be apologizing quickly! She doesn't hold back on the rebuttals even if her face starts to go blue from no air.

  • Auburn is the only known family member to have a job outside of ranching from the Chandler family. It is likely there are others that have migrated from it, but none that have caught the attention of the main family.
  • Xaden was a parting gift from her parents, who had gotten him as a young pup for Auburn when they thought she had the intentions of going into ranching. It’s her father's hopes that he will be used as a sheep herding dog one of these days, as that was his intended use. He currently resides at her parents, where he continues his training for herding. Maybe he'll be back later!
• Auburn was originally a Charmander when coming to the islands at the age of 19. However, during the Cirque de la Lune even in 2014, she had been permanently transformed into a Quilladin. As of 2021, she has officially transitioned back into the Charmander line, using her mask to become a Charizard.
