The sound of thudding hooves echoed through the relatively peaceful forest. The loud splash of the dunskin obertaurer racing into the stream, that trickled from the main river and into the forest, caught the attention of several birds who flew away quickly at the noise. Mikayla patted Ranger's neck as they passed the next marker- a red ribbon tied to a tree, followed by one standing upright from the path. She wasn't sure if they were in front of or just behind another competitor, but she wasn't going to push Ranger past his limit in this endurance race.

The obertaurer stallion had been doing good since he had accepted her as the leader of the 'herd' a while back. All the energy that he'd used in bucking and stirring up a fuss was now easily diverted into long rides across the country or various countries if you counted competitions. It worked pretty well for them, though every once in a while Ranger liked to test her staying on skills as they warmed up

Mikayla was a little sad that the White December Endurance race wasn't going to be happening this year, but that just meant they'd have a bit more time for training for the event. She was sure Ranger and Therron were going to be her main two, both stallions having had plenty of experience in the various cold environments ranging from Maine USA in dead winter, and Austria. Her possible third horse, an Australian Warmblood, hadn't had nearly enough practice- but the chestnut was also part of her cross country and endurance classes, so he was still on the maybe side.

Ranger snorted softly as they made their way out of the forest and back towards the fields where they could see the vineyard. The sky was beginning to fill with clouds and they were aiming to beat the rain this time.
