Description Inspired by the American Indian (mainly Iroquois) story of creation, of which there are a few slightly different versions.

Short story from Wikipedia:
According to Iroquois oral history, Sky Woman fell down to the earth when it was covered with water. Various animals tried to swim to the bottom of the ocean to bring back dirt to create land. Muskrat succeeded in gathering dirt, which was placed on the back of a turtle, which grew into the land known today as North America. In the Seneca language, the mythical turtle is called Hah-nu-nah, while the name for an everyday turtle is ha-no-wa

Uhm I can only speak of my experience but usually they hide behind a wall of stress and life, are burried under thoughts of "What might they expect from me?", "Is this good enough?" and "Come on, you can do better" and are finally chained to the conflicting wishes of doing what I want and getting as much feedback as possible. Because that's never the same... at least for me.

Ugh that sounds so depressing as I read it O_o

Rowye In reply to saftkeks13 [2016-03-06 16:58:28 +0000 UTC]

Haha it is a little depressing. But so very true, can't agree any more with you. It's funny if I think about it, when I posted this piece a year and a half ago I really had nothing to lose, as in, I'd just began posting on DA and nobody knew me. Although half of them are just 1st log-in suggestion watches, a lot of people are watching me now, and while that's wonderful it's also rather scary.
But it's good to have that reminder, to do what we really want to instead of what we think others will like, as the main reason to make art should be that we need it, or simply want to.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

saftkeks13 In reply to Rowye [2016-03-07 12:36:48 +0000 UTC]

Amen to that. We should start a rebellion... back to the roots, painting/photomanipulation whatever comes to our mind. I feel like a lot of artists can relate to this "problem". Wtf, being famous is a problem Never thought I'd hear myself say that and I'm not even close to your number of watchers.^^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rowye In reply to saftkeks13 [2016-03-16 15:21:58 +0000 UTC]

Haha as I said half of my watchers are just first-time log-in users who got the suggestion from DA. I bet from all those only like 5% really like my stuff. xD However not getting many more of those nowadays, which to tell you the truth is better, I rather know how many people like my art for real.

But I have in fact started our rebellion, even though I really love pretty artworks, I've been feeling a void and a need to express more with my art, as it used to be in arts school 20 years ago. Now it's time to go back and start speaking with my work. Not saying no more pretties, but I certainly want to push the coneptual side forward...

saftkeks13 In reply to Rowye [2016-03-31 09:58:03 +0000 UTC]

I could just slap my signature beneath this but it's the internet, so I won't x) I'm also working on that rebellion, and just recently discovered that breaking my boundaries AND people liking what I do is actually possible. I was overwhelmed. Maybe there're still wonders in this world.^^

We should make a stamp to put on our profiles. I know other people who might use it too. Something along the lines of "Back to the roots" or "Breaking the boundaries". It's just important to find something that doesn't piss people off because they're pointed at like "you made me draw that"...

Rowye In reply to saftkeks13 [2016-04-04 14:10:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I see how that made you happy, it's really nice when you feel like some people actually understand you.
Hahah if someone makes a stamp I'll use it at times, certainly have some duality in my works, which also is very obvious in the number of favs the more personal ones tend to get.

Yay! I'm glad that you liked it, I always enjoy hearing from the stock artists on my use.
Also glad that I could remember about it to credit, brushes are the hardest cause once you install them it's not always easy to tell where they came from, I'm sure yours have been used a lot more than it seems (which is good or bad I guess depends on how you look at it), but they're certainly some of the most useful brushes around here.
