Quick quick sketch of the main cast-good guys from the old 80's serie "Mysterieuses Cites d'Or" (Mysterious Cities of Gold).I learned only yesterday that there is a possibility there may be a follow up to the old serie, over 20 years after it was finished.
YES!! Finally!
Got to keep a cool head though: there were many false starts in the past, the studio (Blue Spirit animation) mentionned as being part of the production seem to specialise itself in pre-school, 3D material.
Still, wait and see!
If it does happen, crossing my fingers they keep a good quality and if they update the look, that it doesn't get too weird or widely different.
IF it gets done, we can expect it back on the television screen sometime in 2011-2012.

I was born in the 90's and didn't get to see this show on TV, but I have it on DVD. And for some reason Sancho and Pedro babbling in the background made me pull up "Mine, Mine, Mine" from Pocahontas, in a Disney album I have in my iTunes.

Update: I got a T-shirt for my birthday this year, and it has this picture printed on it!
Also, I saw Season 2 of this show. Nutshel: Could use a better dub, but storyline works surprisingly well. The new Condor in it ROCKS, as well as the 2nd Golden City!

I'm 17 and I don't remember when MCoG was in TV, but my older friends does. They post the link to trailer of new season on one forum and I started reading about the series. I LOVE old toons so I started watching... and I must disagree with your comment replies. MCoG didn't aged gratefully. It just DIDN'T AGE! I've watched already 10 episodes and I must say that it'll probably be one of my favourite cartoons.
Mendoza is my favourite character too. And his cape is awesome, of course.

In case you still care after all this time, Tao (the boy on the left) is polynesian but lived on one of the Galapagos Island when he first appeared. Zia (the girl in the middle) is an Inca girl from Peru. Esteban (the boy on the right) was raised in Spain but is apparently Meso-American on his mother's side (no ethnic group ever identified).

I'm a 60s-70s kid myself but I still loved that show when it came out. And still do over 30 years later.

I loved that old series, it was right around the epoch of anime fandom in the U.S. (then called Japanimation).
I'm glad it has a following, small though it may be.

As shown on this French site (the french being more up to date then english cause the show was originaly a japanese-french production and he show had more success in France and Quebec then anywhere else) the show will be continued with 3 new seasons comprising 26 episodes each using about the same animation as they did back then to keep the show t s itwas!!!! Let's hope it's just as good!

I love this so much, I can hear the "aaaaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaaa~, someday we will find, the cities of gold" from the theme in my head now. I haven't watched this in over 20 years.

I never seen this show personally but I saw images. I was throw off by the not so appealing old look. But if you were working on it I'd love to watch MCog .Your drawing of the character are stuff with appeal.
