A challenge from the start, as I'd never been able to draw my son. Many dismal attempts but sweet success finally! I found myself changing up my normal drawing steps on this one, as I generally finish my portrait faces first then work outwards. The result is a delay in finishing as I try to find the motivation to finish drawing the areas I do not find as compelling. And to switch it up, after the initial sketch, I worked on everything nearly except the model's face, then came back to fill it all in, ending with the usual retouches on highlights, and shadows. For my first in several months and hopefully not my last of this year, I feel "That's My Boy" promises an even better turn out of artwork in 2009.

p.s- and I believe it was who convinced me a larger canvas would yield better results...14"x17" paper used for this one.
