Description
A Hetalia-inspired original character of Scotland if you couldn't already tell. I wore this to Seattle's Hetalia Day!This is based on my friend Vamprincess-Noa 's OC that she created back in '09. FYI he has nothing to do with the other OC that's been exploding on pixiv (who is all sorts of inaccurate anyway). It was my personal choice to do a World War version, to fit with all the other official characters that Himaruya has drawn. It's modeled after the Black Watch, the Royal Highland Regiment, though I did make slight changes.
I finally got to use the flag she sent me... from Scotland. XD

Oh, wow. You look absolutely amazing; I love the outfit. And I very much agree with the World War version. The Royal Highland Regiment seems suiting for Scotland to wear. Great job.

Thank you! I figured because Himaruya's designs for his other characters are all based on WWI/WWII style uniforms, I much prefer something similar for Scotland.
And yes it's always fun having a flag with it.

I had to mention it... Honestly, I've have no problem with most of the Scotland OCs I've seen, I rather enjoy seeing other people's interpretations... But 'Cisco' is the only one who rubs the the wrong way. D:

Yay thanks! And well, I have nothing against the metal sporran chains, but they seem more fitting for dressier or more formal outfits, which mine is not. XD Yes, the sporran came in handy as I stuffed my cell phone, digicam, and money in it.

I really like your uniform, and the wig you chose. That's pretty much the exact shade that I imagine Scotland's hair would be.
I am still confused as to why that other Scotland OC suddenly became so popular...

(I especially don't like the way that OC's relationship with England is portrayed by the fans, with England being terribly victimized... When it doesn't take a history genius to know that historically England was the one exerting his douchebaggery most often. x_x)

I think that's part of the fandom's apparent constant desire to completely disregard most of England's history for the sake of making him a wibbly uke. While it's true that the only time Scotland has been mentioned in canon is the strip where England is thinking about Scotland picking on him in the past, that strip is also set when America is just a baby. England had a lot of picking-on-Scotland yet to do.

You have no idea how happy it always makes me to know more people who dislike Wibbly Uke England. When it comes to the Hetalia fans' interpretations of the characters, I can understand tweaking history a bit, since not all of Hetalia characters are very accurate anyway... but what the fandom does to England is way too ridiculous. What's funny is my friends and I came to the same conclusion about that Scotland OC, that it was possibly that one strip starting the whole bullying idea. Add to that the fandom's love of uke!England, and you've got one crazy ship.

Yeah, trying to paint England as a wibbly uke tends to disregard some of the most interesting parts of his history, which is especially annoying to me since I've been really into English history since Elementary school. Yes, the fandom does acknowledge his pirate years, but that's really only a relatively small chunk of his history.

Thanks! The character is supposed to have dark auburn hair. I was having trouble finding a color I liked, they were either too red or too brown, so I ended up just killing a bunch of red Sharpies to add a slight reddish tint to a brown wig.

Yeah, as much as I love redheads, I don't think that his hair would be REALLY red (save that for Ireland). I like the more brunette with a reddish tint to it.

Agreed! But I might be biased... The friend who created this Scotland OC that my cosplay is based on also has an Ireland OC whose hair is much redder. But it's fitting anyway, since they do have more of the redheads.

Aww, that sucks! I wonder how the turnout was. Ours actually had way more people than I expected. It was fun, though, it would've been awesome too if you had come to the Seattle one. XD
