A Valentine's Day (well, month) treat for my fellow Taran/Eilonwy fans. Enjoy the romance!No, this never happened in the books. But admit it: you KNOW you wanted it to on EVERY FREAKING PAGE of the final one.
Plus it's just unfair that the Disney adaptation gets a kiss while book purists like me do not. So here we go. Problem solved.
Born of about four oft-interrupted hours; a test of my resolve to get back into the habit of creating SOMEthing even in the midst of the demands on my time, so trying to work fast and loose.

The Chronicles Of Prydain is my favorite book series. Hilariously, I first learned about it from the Disney version of The Black Cauldron. But when I read the series, I absolutely fell in love with it. I adore Eilonwy. I had the pleasure of portraying her once in an original play based on the books. By the way, is your graphic novel of the series available for purchase anywhere?

My graphic novel is still a work in progress, but even were I finished I could not sell it legally, since the Chronicles are still under copyright. Iโm quite happy to continue doing it under the table, as it were, since I have no editor calling the shots. DeviantArt is a terrible place to read it though since it displays the pages out of order. In Wales!?! O.M.G!!!! That is amazing!!! Youโre beautiful, by the way. I was a bit younger when I played Eilonwy. I was a tween when I saw Disneyโs movie. I was probably in my mid 20โs when I played her in the play. I could play Achren, now! Lol. Iโm in (and have been in for years) an acting troupe that specializes in period theatricals. We do a lot of original plays, and modified Shakespeare. My last performance was as the evil enchantress Morgan in an original King Arthur play. Anyway, my troupe loves all things Celtic, and we have done an original play based on the Prydain series a couple of times.

Iโm an American mongrel but do have a majority chunk of Anglo-Irish dna, according to 23andMe. ๐ And Iโve always loved Celtic folklore and mythology so when I stumbled on the Chronicles at age 16 it was a match made in heaven. I have visited Ireland, Scotland and Wales and Wales is my favorite hands down. Itโs absolutely magical.

One of my most favorite things is pretty princesses who kick butt, so, you can see why I love Eilonwy! Iโm a southern girl. I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast. I have very easy access to beaches, rivers, lakes, etc. I finally managed to get a pic loaded to my profile and avatar, so you can see me. I probably have some Celtic heritage. Pretty sure I have some English. I would love to have some Irish, or Scottish, or Welsh, but Iโve never traced my ancestry very far. I have a spirit like Eilonwyโs , and Iโm also a chatterbox like her.

Yep. ๐๐ That drive through the tunnel that let us know the four-hour drive was almoooooost oveeeeer.
Of course that was years before the strip of highway from Foley to the coast became a parking lot every Saturday afternoon.

Are you in Central FL? We should totally meet and do some cosplay pics as Eilonwy and Achren! Iโm too old to play Eilonwy now, but I could easily do Achren. My hair is almost completely white, with a few dark streaks of blonde, and I have blue eyes.

OMG!!! That would be hilarious! But I bet youโre still pretty and young looking enough to cosplay Eilonwy. I have three types of characters I typically play...the mother/motherly type, the flirt, or the flamboyant one. Playing the villain was new for me, and a challenge, my director thought I had the acting chops for it.

Iโve done community theatre. This troupe is a very different style. You audition for the troupe, not the play. Once youโre in the troupe, the director casts you in roles she thinks you can pull off. No Experience is necessary. She can train newbies. Iโve been with her for years. Sheโs the one who wrote the Prydain play.

Ironically, they DON'T kiss in the books, at least that we're told about, but I always kind of infer it. There's actually five books - the series is called The Chronicles of Prydain, and if you spend enough time on my page you'll find out pretty much all about it.
