Description After created this amazing image [link] I just had to use it in a wallpaper somehow. The most time I spent was on the image of Darkwing, as I had to vector it if I wanted to do the background image justice, and vectoring is something I have never attempted before. Many hours of looking up vector tutorials and editing in Photoshop later, its now complete. While finalizing this I had the idea to do this really cool effect so you can see more of the background. This idea I got from the Sailor Moon S Japanese Laserdisc and North American DVD covers. I have always adored the looks of these covers: [link]

Overal, Iā€™m very pleased at how this turned out. ^^

For those who don't like my fancy-looking, cutaway effect for the image of Darkwing himself and would prefer not to see it, an alternate version is available here. [link]

Also, the vector of Darkwing that I made will be available soon for all to use once I do some tweaking and polishing (said needed tweaking/polishing wasn't going to be seen anyways when I shrunk it down for the wallpaper)...and hopefully the computer which has said vector hasn't died on me (had to use Gimp on my laptop instead of Photoshop to add the text).

EDIT: *One other attempt to try and turn on my Mac later* Oh poo...well, I think this might just be my last completed desktop wallpaper I make on my Mac and last wallpaper I might be making for a while. Good thing I decided to stick the completed versions of this on my flash drive, to test how they looked on my other computer. Unfortunately this means you'll most likely not be seeing my quality 3000 px wide vector of Darkwing, and my next vector project, which was Negaduck, will have to wait....or maybe I can attempt my next vector with Gimp, we'll see.

EDIT 2: Vector of Darkwing now available. Not THE vector I wanted to post (due to my Mac still being dead and all), but it still works. [link]

Love it! I remember seeing that beautiful cityscape before. I think you did a very nice job with the shading and layout.

Nice! I agree with previous posts: the "invisible" cloak really gives it a hint of mystery!

I like the transparency of this, it adds to his mysterious persona and his ability to appear and vanish almost instantly.

Wow. Not every day Darkwing Duck pops up on DA's front page! Awesome! I love how his hat and cape blend into the background.

...and theres not very many high quality wallpapers of Darkwing on the net either, so i'd thought i'd help fix that problem.

And that's a shame. He's such an awesome hero and such a great cartoon from the 90's. I miss it.

I'm surprised Disney hasn't attempted to give him a proper comeback with the recent superhero movie boom in Hollywood and their current desperate attempts to profit from the male demographic (why else would they want Naruto Shippuden and Marvel?)

Sure, there was the comic Boom had, but that wasn't Disney's idea. That was the folks at Boom reminiscing about Darkwing one day and deciding to give him a comic while they had the Disney license.

*sigh* Aw well, perhaps its for the best. I can imagine if Disney brought him back themselves, we would be seeing new animation along the lines of those cruddy DTV movie sequels. *shudders* No thanks!
