Description This a MDM theme that fully animates with an analog clock that works.
I converted one of my live wallpapers into this. I thought some might like it.
You MUST have the new MDM installed for linux mint otherwise it will NOT work.
You can read about how to get the new MDM and how to install it here: blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2327
Hope you enjoy it.
There are two fully animated blimps and old airplanes, two subway cars that move across the screen and also moving clouds.
This is for all the steampunk fans like myself.
Sam
Changelog: I updated this for mdm 1.1.5 added the welcome message to the top part and changed the default svg image.
You must have the new 1.1.5 MDM to run this which can be gotten at the same link above with the instructions.
Just in case anyone was wondering this was remade from this from a live wallpaper I made for android you can see here:
play.google.com/store/apps/det…
I might convert some more over I made for android for this MDM also later on.
Changelog: fixed alert message moving login screen down
Fixed clouds for systems that wouldn't allow px and percentage at the same time.
Changelog:

Updated to use with MDM 1.3.2 or Linux Mint 16

I added mousetrap for keyboard shortcuts for the following actions:
up and down arrows = users (switch between users to log in
esc = the buttons (shutdown, suspend, restart)
ctl + l = languages
ctl + s = sessions

Hello Sam, forgive my defective English, I love this login screen installed by default in LinuxMint 18, only question: how to change user thumbnails? The choice of the thumbnails of the folder "pixmaps" not taking place.
Thank you in advance.

samriggs In reply to Insam [2017-01-19 04:13:03 +0000 UTC]

pixmaps holds a folder named faces that is the users choices for their account icon or you can pick one of your own what I do is just make my own and call the file .face and put it in my home folder for my choice but if you go into your user and groups under settings that is where you pick the icon for the user, once picked it should show up when you go into the mdm and pick which one you want from there.
Other then that I wouldn't know because that is what I do
hope it helps you out
Sam

I just tested it and it worked for me, if choosing an icon from the user and groups under settings wont work then just grab the image you want for your account icon/avatar and as I stated name it .face with no extension and a dot in fromt and put it in your home folder, this will force it to be your icon for your account and it will load in the mdm login screen.

How do I install on Linux MANJARO?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

samriggs In reply to Burlamaque [2016-12-24 09:23:02 +0000 UTC]

sorry I haven't responded been away, for Manjaro it would be the same as on any other system using MDM download the zip (deviantart doesn't allow tar.gz extensions), unzip right click on the folder recompress as a tar.gz archive in settings open the login window drag the tar.gz into it and it will install it for you.
Then just select it once installed in the login window.
Orrrrr just copy it the extracted folder, copy it into usr/share/mdm/html-themes/
Either way works then again select it in the login window under settings.

You must have mdm installed for it to work

If you don't have mdm installed ask the forum at Manjaro to walk you through that as it uses a different package manager then mint.

I Love Arch by the way, that and mint are my two favorites. and pacman is one of my favorite package managers, Manjaro is a great distro for those that don't want the bleeding edge and installing headaches good choice on your distro.
I don't use it (I just go for Arch) but it is a good distro.

I use on linux mint and right wheel at login. Where can I find the screen saver ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

samriggs In reply to Burlamaque [2016-08-15 03:45:57 +0000 UTC]

no screen saver yet, this is a mdm login screen that animated taken from one of my live wallpapers for android, there is no html5 screen savers yet in linux that I know of or html5 live wallpapers so we all have to wait until someone creates it which probably won't happen anytime soon.
If and when it does I'll fork these over to it.
The reason live wallpapers might not happen is because it would take up resources on the desktop and probably would slow stuff down to much, although it would be cool eye candy, not one I would use unless I had the resources to spare and have everything still run smoothly.

I don't use Mint anymore since they use an outed wacom tablet support (which I need for what I do)
So i don't have that system installed even to change things around, I made these when the new mdm first came out to help get it started, if someone out there wants to fork this and update it for the new mdm changed for mint 17 feel free to do so, other wise I'll have to wait until mint uses a more updated wacom tablet support (as in the gnome wacom tablet support which let's you configure aspect ratios and mostly everything else for the tablet)
I can use xfce and still use the gnome parts for the control centre for their tablet support but I can't do this in mint's cinnamon version as it is incompatible for with gnome, which is all in good, except for that one main issue with the tablet, other wise I would go back to cinnamon in a hearbeat. I love cinnamon and the folks over at mint are fantastic just not a priority for updating that one part yet so I'll have to wait for now.
Maybe I'll check out what they done with the tablet support and see if there is anything updated since their their attempt to fork over the outed version.
Sorry for not answering this sooner, I been extremely busy with other things.

Hello sam, I have another question.
In this theme, the movement of clouds not work.
This move does not work either on the emulator, but it works perfectly in the browser.
The same goes for Galaxy theme, the astronaut is not shown in MDM.
Thanks

samriggs In reply to Frannoe [2013-04-04 17:29:00 +0000 UTC]

hmmm thats weird, ok I'll test both and see what's going on, I moved the alert button up on both so maybe it has something to do with that and where it's placed or something.
I'll see what's going on with it all.

Alright I just checked both in the emulator and login screen and both work on my end, but I thank you, I had my wife in the space suit, I was showing her what hers will look like with her in it and forgot to change it last I time uploaded it to the default spaceman lol
Ya she didn't appreciate that one LOL. So i re-uploaded it without my wife floating around in space lol.
Ok back to the issue, what system are you trying this on and the screen resolution? Not sure that would have anything to do with it, but these should work. For the galaxy one did you take the gimp out and re-compress only the galaxy folder itself?
this is the css for one of the clouds
.box4{
width:250px;
height:250px;
background-image:url('cloud1.png');
position:fixed;
top:20px;
animation:cloud1 107s infinite;
animation-timing-function:linear;
-webkit-animation:cloud1 107s infinite;
-webkit-animation-timing-function:linear;
}
@keyframes cloud1
{
from { left: -250px;}
to {left: 100%;}
}

@-webkit-keyframes cloud1
{
from { left: -250px;}
to {left: 100%;}
}
and the html simply is

Nothing out of the ordinary here, just a simple css transition.
I can't figure out why they won't show in yours, they also show in my emulator, both the clouds and the spaceman. did you try the default resolution on the emulator(800x600) I never tried anything the one smaller, because I can't see anyone having a screen that small but did try it on bigger ones.

Yes, I've been reviewing these sections of the code for images cloud1.png, cloud2.png, cloud3.png, cloud4.png, and seems quite right.

I do not understand is why in Firefox works perfectly.

My monitors 1366x768
I'm on LMDE-MATE

For example, if you change "cloud1" in line 4 for "subway", then it works ΒΏ!?

animation:cloud1 107s infinite;
animation-timing-function:linear;
-webkit-animation:subway 107s infinite;
-webkit-animation-timing-function:linear;

is very strange

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

samriggs In reply to Frannoe [2013-04-04 19:46:35 +0000 UTC]

ya its just reading the keyframes from the subway one instead, but the animation:cloud1 107s infinite; should be changed also, so it works in mine but not in yours that is weird, maybe it's using numbers that is causing it, I can't test it mine because mine works would you mind trying this for me. try this:
.box4{
width:250px;
height:250px;
background-image:url('cloud1.png');
position:fixed;
top:20px;
animation:clouda 107s infinite;
animation-timing-function:linear;
-webkit-animation:clouda 107s infinite;
-webkit-animation-timing-function:linear;
}
@keyframes clouda
{
from { left: -250px;}
to {left: 100%;}
}

@-webkit-keyframes clouda
{
from { left: -250px;}
to {left: 100%;}
}
I just changed the cloud1 to clouda in the animation and keyframes, that is the only difference in the subway code and the cloud one, that and the speeds, I have the speed set at 30s for the subway, which is a lot faster then the clouds which are at 107s (the higher the number the slower it moves).
Numbers should be allowed though, when I made this I literally copied pasted the subway code and just changed the start and stop and names and time, so the only thing I can think of why is the time (the subway one moved a lot quicker try changing the time) and the number.
Please let me know if you try this.
Sam

samriggs In reply to samriggs [2013-04-04 19:53:11 +0000 UTC]

I noticed something else also in the subway code I used percentage on both
from { left: -120%;}
to {left: 120%;}
in the cloud I changed it to
from { left: -250px;}
to {left: 100%;}
a px and a percentage but this should work as well, maybe try changing -120px to -20% so it starts 20% of screen width before the screen left side.
I've used px in percentage in a few codes with no issues.
In the spaceman I did the same thing
from { left: -500px;}
to {left: 150%;}
a px and percentage so maybe this is the issue.

Frannoe In reply to samriggs [2013-04-04 20:23:38 +0000 UTC]

It seems to work correctly as well:

.box4{
width:250px;
height:250px;
background-image:url('cloud1.png');
position:fixed;
top:20px;
animation:cloud1 40s infinite;
animation-timing-function:linear;
-webkit-animation:cloud1 40s infinite;
-webkit-animation-timing-function:linear;
}
@keyframes cloud1
{
from { left: -120%;}
to {left: 120%;}
}

@-webkit-keyframes cloud1
{
from { left: -120%;}
to {left: 120%;}
}
.box5{
width:280px;
height:280px;
background-image:url('cloud2.png');
position:fixed;
top:10px;
animation:cloud2 50s infinite;
animation-timing-function:linear;
-webkit-animation:cloud2 50s infinite;
-webkit-animation-timing-function:linear;
}
@keyframes cloud2
{
from { left: -120%;}
to {left: 120%;}
}

@-webkit-keyframes cloud2
{
from { left: -120%;}
to {left: 120%;}
}
.box6{
width:500px;
height:280px;
background-image:url('cloud3.png');
position:fixed;
top:0px;
animation:cloud3 80s infinite;
animation-timing-function:linear;
-webkit-animation:cloud3 80s infinite;
-webkit-animation-timing-function:linear;
}
@keyframes cloud3
{
from { left: 120%;}
to {left: -120%;}
}

@-webkit-keyframes cloud3
{
from { left: 120%;}
to {left: -120%;}
}
.box7{
width:500px;
height:300px;
background-image:url('cloud4.png');
position:fixed;
top:-10px;
animation:cloud4 40s infinite;
animation-timing-function:linear;
-webkit-animation:cloud4 40s infinite;
-webkit-animation-timing-function:linear;
}
@keyframes cloud4
{
from { left: 120%;}
to {left: -120%;}
}

@-webkit-keyframes cloud4
{
from { left: 120%;}
to {left: -120%;}
}

The problem is in these porcentajesde the .box4-7.:
----> from { left: -XXXpx;}
These lines of code seem to be the problem

.....Until tomorrow, I have to rest (:

Ya I have LMDE on a usb waiting for the install, but the new mdm has to be installed, I know I could do that on the usb, but I only have another week to wait until I can get my new external HD to save my stuff on before I install LMDE, I have a verbatim external but got the old read only thing that has plagued verbatim externals and there is nothing that can be done about it, so I can wait one more week to get it done, this might be a mate issue and not a lmde issue, because I'm using cinnamon now and mixing the px with the percentage causes me no issues at all, including in the emulator which is the same as yours, the only thing I can mark it down to is css being an older version or something old or out of wack in mate, should be interesting to see what happens with cinnamon lmde with me, I'm going to test it to find out if it's just a mate issue, which would make total sense if it's using an older version of css. Anyhow I updated this teme and fixed it and the galaxy one as well, from now I'll make sure I keep them the same for mates sake
Your becoming my number one bug hunter I really appreciate it, it helps me out a ton.

Thanks a bunch for testing out and finding the problem, looks like some gets confused with the px percentage thing, I'll set them all at percentage or px but not both, and re-upload them soon as I get some time here.
Just weird it works on mine but not on yours, are you running this on LMDE? I'm switching back to LMDE in the middle of the month.
Thanks a bunch for this. very much appreciated.

never mind I just seen your on LMDE Mate, so that must be the issue why it's not reading both, I'm on linux mint 14, good to know, I'll make sure their all compatable with LMDE as well, once I get LMDE installed on this thing, I'll be able to test it better but I'm putting cinnamon on, don't know if it's just a mate thing or just a LMDE thing but it's no problem just to use percentage or px but not both, just gives me a touch less control where everything goes.

How do you manage/install the themes?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

samriggs In reply to cbowman57 [2013-03-15 05:19:40 +0000 UTC]

just extract it from the zip then recompress it as tar.gz instead (deviantart wouldn't let me upload a tar.gz so I had to zip it up and it's too big to put on gnome or linuxmint art site), once its recompressed just go to administration then login window and drag the thing in there and it will install for you, nice and easy. But you have to have the new MDM to use it, it should be in the mint 15 but for now you have to install it, get the mdm and info here: [link] That is how its done on mint not too sure about arch or if the mdm they made for mint will work on arch (better check it out first) although it should but I would check it out unless you don't mind boinking your system lol, not like that hasn't happened a few times before for most linux users lol

Ya I would check arch and see if its possible, I don't have a clue what it would do going into another linux system or what they have on the backend. MDM should be MDM on all systems but who knows, that part is beyond me.
