Description

Every day in the rain forests of the Abzu belt , as the sun rises and temperatures follow, the water accumulated during the nocturnal rains begins to evaporate. As the day progresses, a dense, hot and humid air rises to the clear skies. An average human would endure such conditions only for a few minutes before passing out with a slight suffocation, but this is nothing to the natives.

It's noon. A small Enodoptera group, after a failed hunt, stops for a few moments on the trunks of a tall, symbiotic vegetation as they look for a cooler shade to rest down below. While calm and lazy clouds move in the distance, a small swarm of airborne creatures zaps through the air while searching for food.

So far, you've shown us some of what lives in the greener and bluer parts of Anu.  What lives in the the deserts?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sanrou In reply to Sleabedybarb [2018-03-02 13:35:10 +0000 UTC]

It will be explored in the future, as well as the life on the poles. Stay tuned for more!

Holy Mary Mother of God! This is such an amazing scene!
I literally love everything about this! Not only do the blandoptera look great, the vegetation is fascinating as all hell too! My favorites have to be those little radial flyers... they are extremely intriguing to me!

And thank you very much for the dedication of course!
It means the world to me

I have a little curiosity, what are those smaller rhomboids (radial?) creatures?

I love your pieces like this one that depict snapshots of Anu nature...how tall are the symbiotic vegetation? Are they "symbiotic" similar to the saprophyte grasslands?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sanrou In reply to Plyendell [2018-02-14 17:45:01 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you like it!
Up to 56 meters.
Almost: the tree itself it's just the green bulb atop of a pyramidal body (off scene), these "trunks" on the bottom are colonies of amoeba-like organisms that grow and feed on the bulb, becoming a auxiliar reproductive structure to the tree.

symbiotic tree?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sanrou In reply to archeoraptor38 [2018-02-14 15:20:17 +0000 UTC]

The "trunks" of this tree are from a different species (kingdom, even) from the greenish bulb at the center. They have a deep symbiotic relation, though

so those big hangign seeds are from teh amoeba thing or the true tree? reminds me a bit of slime mold

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sanrou In reply to archeoraptor38 [2018-02-18 18:56:25 +0000 UTC]

If by hanging seeds you're referring to the yellowish rhomboids in the lower right corner, they're radial airborne animals. They feed on colonies of other organisms that filter the water from the rain and grows on the lower parts of branches, stones, etc
