yeah, I've seen these cases but this happens here too. Anyway, I don't think there's a way to absolutely control copyright in huge community sites but not doing something because you're afraid to take a risk isn't enough of a reason

Yeah, but dA already has Huge trouble with tumblr'ising. People posting whatever images they might come over in google because they find it cute and wants to share with everyone else. Or maybe a screenshot of their favorite character from a movie, or maybe a gif!
and until something is done there (it takes 2 years for the staff to come back to your report.) So think if music was a part of that, and suddenly music is in there as well, suddenly the 2 years turn into 5.

The part abut wasting your talent might be true, but it's not always your calling so it wouldn't matter if you showed it off. [unless you're including ti in your portfolio for any reason]

Well, this poster is all about confidence. It wasn't meant to make sense nor to lead you in a logical assumption that's why there's a loop forcing you to go in one direction. A true artist doesn't need only deviantART to become great but it can be part of it

You can expose your art in more places than just online. Real world publications and galleries are a great way to get exposure too. It's a pain getting into them though. Oh the rejection letters!

I haven't written any of my thoughts about this in the art description just to see how people feel about exposing themselves here. With this flowchart I did exactly that. The flowchart "forces" one option only and it makes it so with a huge obvious loop no matter if you choose yes or no. So in the end you have to wonder if that result is really true not just accept it.
I believe deviantART is doing a great job promoting artists online because right now e-commerce is huge but for an artist exposure in the real world is much different, if not in value maybe in quality. I struggle with this one but anybody can have their own opinion and I'm glad yours is similar to mine
