Hey great work!  I like the design and colors.  It's very sharp, cool, and  the colors are neat.

A very interesting piece. Ordinarily one might expect the snowflake to be presented against a background with a contrasting color. You have chosen to use a contrasting texture rather than color scheme, and it works very well. The straight lines against the swirly background is effective, and the use of the dark borders around the light colored spines also adds to the contrast, making them pop. 

The colors in the center of the snowflake are also represented in the background, but are more muted in the background. This has the effect of unifying the whole purse in a way that using a color-contrasted background would not. It also adds depth to the piece. Additionally, going from the brighter colors in the center out to the spines gives the impression that the ends are trailing off into nothingness. Bring a fan of Japanese literature, this reminds me of the recurring theme of the evanescence of beauty, most often represented by cherry blossoms. A snowflake also has a short life span, and I certainly get that impression from the treatment of the outer design trailing off into the background. 

A previous commenter noted the similarity to a dream catcher, and that is certainly true. I am also reminded of the symbol on the New Mexico State flag, albeit in a design of six rather than four axes. 

The inner triangular shapes (between the blue center and the lighter ring) remind me of peacock feathers in their design. That this piece can evoke so many different ideas means that each viewer can find something in it for themselves, and that they may find something new with later viewings. This is something that ensures that the art has a greater longevity than the run of the mill piece. 

Congratulations on an imaginative piece well executed.
