Description Started this in July, finished it in November, just posting it now.  Oops! 

This is Rain, Kathryn-styled.    I really enjoy doing these equine portraits.  Just felt like drawing everyone's favorite lady of the Cimarron.   


-Wacom Intuos 4 and Photoshop CS5
-Erm, I honestly have no idea what reference I used all those months ago. 
-Textures are mine

raaaain! i missed her a lot, it hasnt been a long while since i watched spirit on tv and remembered of how much i loved her

Thank you!  (And thanks for the fave, dear!  )  I haven't watched "Spirit" in a long while, either, but it's always one of my favorite movies from my childhood.    Glad you like my portrait of Rain!  She was a lot of fun to paint, and good for portrait practice, too!    Thanks for the sweet comment!

i know the feeling, i haven't watched in forever, but the movie is so sweet that we have some scenes memorized in our minds <3

Ahhh!!! omg I definetly love you for doing it spirit was/is my favorite childhood movie together with the lion king. I simply love her, and the way you made her is pretty, a real beauty, biiig

Thanks dear!  (And thanks for the fave!  )  "Spirit" and "Lion King" are the BEST movies!    I've never tried drawing any "Spirit" characters before, so Rain was a lot of fun!    Glad you like her in my style!    Thanks again!

Thank you dearie!  (And of course, big thanks for the fave!  )  Gah--that mane gave me trouble, but it was good practice for painting a swishy hairdo.    (I realized before this piece that most of my manes were usually pretty flat!  )  Thanks for the sweet comment!

Me too!    It's weird that I love this movie so much, yet I've never done fan art for it before.    I may just have to draw a certain stallion to go along with this mare... 

Glad you like her in my style!    I wasn't sure if people would like this portrait since she's not "Spirit"-style, but I had fun putting my own spin on this oh-so famous mare.

And yeah! She looks great in your style, it's nice to see someone being more re-inventive instead of just copying the 'spirit-style'. Which there is nothing wrong with, it's just nice to see something different

I haven't seen this movie since it came out XD And I got a Spirit cake for my b-day with the Breyer models

I love the gentlness in Rain's expression and the way you drew her ears The blue background goes hand in hand with Rain's color scheme I love the flow of her mane and how you represented individual strands. The highlights of her muzzle really showcases her anatomy well

Thank you!  (And big thanks for the fave, too!  )  I think I would have killed for that kind of birthday when I was younger.  (A Spirit cake AND Breyer models?    You were one lucky duck!  )  I really had a hard time with shading and highlighting the white parts of Rain, so I'm very happy that you like how her muzzle turned out.  Her hair was a challenge, too, but I really wanted to practice a wind-swept mane, so it was a good learning experience.

Thank you my dearest wormy!  (And thank you ever so much for the fave, too!  )  Glad you like her in my style!    You know, this is my first fan art EVER for this movie, and it's even one of my favorite films!  (Shame on me!   I must vow to do more Spirit/Rain art in the future.  )  I really wasn't sure if people would like this since it's not "Spirit"-style, but no one has attacked me yet.    Thanks for the sweet comment!
