Short Story
Clear blue sky with just tiny white clouds, warm sunlight, birds singing - the perfect spring day. And the perfect day to show off some skills at the local Tokotna Training Center. Avalik was already there, together with her Yeti Dire Orit. She had spent all morning to bath the large Dire and afterwards to dry and brush all that fur. It was ahrd work, but worth it. Orits long, fluffy fur now fell soft and shiny. Other Handlers had done the same with their Tokotas, so that they all would look to their best, when getting into the Show Ring.
Conformation, personality, it allw as to be judged today.
Stephan had arrived together with Dinner, a brown barbary Tokota. Her mane was extra fluffy, even for her mane type. But to Stephans luck the Tokota loved to be groomed and get attention. So he was sure that he wouldn't have any problems today. At least he hoped. because his girl could be a bit jealous if others would steal her attention.
He looked around at the others that came together today, all with the same goal. There wa another yong man, with a silky maned Tokota. This mane type was relatively new and not often seen around yet and Stephan couldn't help but adore the fine shiny hair, that was such a contrast to Dinners thick fur. But the Tokota seemed to be surprisingly young and to be a bit nervous among all this people and other Tokotas. But even tough it was friendly and interested in its surroundings.
A brown half maned Tokota sat at the side, with no handler to be seen. It seemed used to the situation, as it sat there calm and relaxed, even without handler. Stephan later learned, that it belonged to one of the employees of the Training Center and was named Anguta.
When the Center opened, the half maned Tokota sat next to the entrance, as if it was observing everyone that was entering. The whole group slowly moved into the large showing area. It was a large sandy area, surrouned with a white picket fence. The participants settlet at the fence in line, waiting patiently for their turn. Stephen and greeted the young, brown haired woman that was next to him in line. She just gave him a nod and then looked somewhere else. The womans was already short, but against her large Dire she looked even shorter. But Stephan knew betetr than to say anything about, as he could imagine that those that did would possibly a head shrter after wards.
After a while the judges held a short speech and the show began.
First was Stephan together with dinner. In the first step she had to stend still, while the judges would judge her outer appearance, posture and health. She had to endure them touching everywhere, and was a bit nervous, but did well overall. The next step was showing of her moves. So the pair got into the center of the show ring, to show what they got. Dinner enjoyed being in the center of attention and performed to the best she could. Usually she could easily be distracted, but not now.The judges seemed satisfied, but results would only be announced, when everyone had their turn.
Next were Avalik and Orit. The large dire stood perfectly still, while the judges were closely examining her and praised the perfect coat. After all ti was not easy to keep a Yeti Dires fur groomed so well. She was more calm than Dinner and that also showed when it came to her gaits. The movements werent as energetic as Dinners, but more precise and elegant. Orit worked concentrated and again the judges seemed satisfied.
Third in line was Nirav the brown silky maned Tokota, with his handler. The young Tokota still seemed a bit nervous and Stephan was interested to see how it would perform.
