It's actually from an old IG weapon that was in the tabletop game during the Rogue Trader era and I think 1st Edition as well. Good job!

About 2,5 years on a regular basis, when I've started to use MODO.
I did some stuff before, but it was not serious. Kind of "chrome balls on checkerboard".
It took 5 hours just because I used parts from Leman Russ & Baneblade.
Modelling from scratch would take much more time.

Mabey. mabey not. If it is a imperium veachle I say put the thing back in to service regardless of what it has for armaments.

That's, interesting. O.o Though I will say, that looks like something the IG would build millions of even if it didn't work. lol

I gotta get lessons from you on texturing tanks in this style.

SerpentTheGreen In reply to warmbluelasers [2011-12-23 11:47:45 +0000 UTC]
These textures are software-specific.
I don't think you'll be able to reproduce these materials step-by step.
But there's nothing very much special about them -- just a bunch of procedural noises & tweaking.
And I still need to work on dirtying-up.
Real-time preview in MODO makes procedural texturing very nice ... you see effect almost in real-time, if you've got enough calculating power for it.

Dunno, procedurals exist in both Max and Maya. Only thing would be setting them up properly, or finding someone else who has and is sharing the files. I do like your "miniature" style of texturing and have been thinking to attempt something similar with my shoddy tank models.

They're quite diferent.
Max & Maya uses node-based textures, AFAIR. MODO has tree-like structure.
So the problem will not be to setup a layer -- the problem will be with iteraction of different layers/nodes.

I'm not a hardcore WH fan, but I agree.
They should have put a forklift instead of lazacannons on this one. Could be nice base decoration.
