Edit: Yes I know the face isn't quite right, no need to tell me again. Getting a bit annoyed because pretty much everybody is pointing out the mistakes in here. I knew it wasn't perfect but I was proud of it anyway...Entry for *emmil 's 'Forbidden Love' contest.
A drawing of Arwen Evenstar, when her father tried to make her leave Aragorn, the one she loves.
This was particularly challenging to draw, the realism was really hard. I have decided I hate lips and patterns on cloth. Still, I am kind of satisfied with the result, because I think I have improved quite a bit.

Pencils used: HB mechanical, plus 2H, HB, B, 2B, 4B graphite pencils.

I sincerely dislike my scanner o_O It made the entire drawing look flat.

You may not have captured her face just right, but I still think it's an amazing drawing. The pattern on her veil and especially her eyes are beautiful. You did a great job!

Meh, I just refuse to draw using grids like most artists do. Feels too much like tracing or cheating imo. I draw free hand, but it means I don't always get every detail right =/ In fact, I think I was pretty close with the lineart, but it was the shading where I went wrong ._.

I think this is a lovely piece of work and I wish you every luck with the competition! I love the approach you've taken and I think you've captured her likeness quite well. I dont know about you but I find faces quite hard to draw so well done!

There's nothing wrong with that, all my faces end up in the style of Paula Rego and I dont know if that is a good thing, I'd end up with chunky manly elves! lol

I agree with Bron, her eyes are really amazing. That and the texture of her veil, you really can feel it...it looks just like Arwen's... just lovely.

I think you've outdone yourself! This is so lovely and soft. Technically, I think it's your best yey, or close to it. All the details are great and there's a strong sense of three-dimensionality. I love her veil - you've really captured the soft velvet and the patterns are beautiful.
But what really gets me is the feeling you've got in this drawing.

Heel erg mooi! Als ik er iets langer naar kijk lijkt er in het gezicht toch iets een beetje uit proportie te zijn, maar ik weet niet precies wat. Iets met de combinatie mond-neus in elk geval, misschien dat de mond iets te ver naar links (voor ons) staat, of iets te recht?
Maar verder is ie echt prachtig. Ontzettend realistisch en je bent zeker vooruit gegaan
