Pfew. I drew this during the early summer holidays and completely forgot about it. Today, I finally finished it.This is Kiyoshi, one of my many very neglected original characters. He used to be human, then, after committing suicide, was approached by one of the Angels of Death. They told him he was chosen to become one of them.
In this scene, he is sitting in a dark forest, in front of a small pond, regretting everything that has happened to him whilst his body slowly changes and his wings are growing.
I'm not completely satisfied with this anymore... Could name several things that I don't like about it. But then again; I have spent countless hours staring at this.
This inspired me to possibly finish some other large projects in pencil too x3

The drawing is very good, but I also love the story behind it. I think it's so interesting, because normally someone who committed suicide would be considered a 'sinner' (even though I don't hold this opinon.) I really like how you came up with a story where, even if he did commit suicide, your character could be wanted. Awesome work! Sorry for the total analyzation I just put you through...

Well, in a sense, becoming an Angel of Death could be considered a punishment. These Angels are the ones that take the mortal souls with them to the afterlife. They have to be there every time someone dies and see their suffering and that of the family members and friends.
However, on the other hand, they do bring these souls to a good place, so it just depends on the way you look at it; they both bring sorrow and happiness to people.

In the story I am writing (that this drawing is a part of), there is actually someone considered to be an evil overlord etc, the usual stuff....but then the main character gets to know him and he's actually a quite nice and decent man and she discovers there are always two sides to every story. I think that things like that are so interesting!

Haha in fact it's only written in Dutch now - I'm still not too confident about my English skills... xD I study English in university now, so who knows, I might rewrite it someday.

I was 'supposed' to be writing because I have an allotted time on the computer - unless I'm writing, doing homework, etc. - so I wasn't allowed to be on unless I was writing.

Haha, in fact I am Dutch, so it's not that weird xD I have taken French, but God, what a horrible language... After six years I still can't speak it. I don't like the sound of German...Latin and ancient Greek are not really in use anymore... Nah, I really prefer English for writing, but meh, if I do that I just want to do it knowing that I am not making mistakes everywhere... so it's just in Dutch for now xD

I think the background is amazing, and the pond is well done, I think it's very hard to make water actually look like water in a black&white pencil drawing, but you did great! I also love the detail on his wings. The figure itself (apart from the wings, I mean) looks kind of plain amidst all the detailing, which is a bad thing as he really should stand out from the background I think, but I can imagine (since you can't use colours to make him stand out) that's also particularly hard. His face on the other hand is amazing; when I first looked at it, it just seemed angry, but when I looked closer it kind of seemed to house a bazillion different emotions. Great, great work.

I'm so glad the water actually looks like water, I wasn't too sure about that XD And you're right about the figure, I hadn't actually realised that yet. I'll keep an eye on that, next time. And it IS particularly hard, especially since his clothing is fully designed and stuff. It's plain white/gold clothing, actually, so...
Yeah the angry expression was caused by his eyebrows, which I think may be a little too thick and pronounced.
