I drew what he looks like before he gets captured uwu or well, recently captured anyway. But of course he'd look all dirty and with bruises all over with the labor they put him through ewe gonna draw that after exams are over asdfgh also after he's captured his glasses are gone forevs~

Cedric came from an average-class human family which consists of his parents and a younger sister who had just learned how to walk. His father runs a small clinic with herbal medicine as its main resource and, though there are many of those who use magic and the power of science to cure sicknesses, they still manage to get by since their herbal medication is found in mostly common herbs and is therefore much more affordable to the mass and still has some great effects on the body. Most of their patients/customers arrive with more minor illnesses since their clinic does not cover the major ones such as missing limbs or such, but they would be willing to offer some bandages if needed. Cedric’s mother works as a nurse in his father’s clinic and when she is not busy helping her husband and the patients she is taking care of their three year-old daughter.

Before he was captured, Cedric assisted his father along with his mother in the clinic if he wasn’t so engrossed in his books. His father actually found him useful to have around since, well, people forget things when they get a bit old so sometimes Cedric helps remind him about things needed to be done or what to put in this and that. The boy also helps his family out by going through the forest and picking up the specific herbs they need to run the clinic.

He is quite knowledgeable about swordplay in both offensive and defensive situations because of the books he read but would probably be near to useless in actual combat. Although, he does know how to use a gun (not only from reading) from his father since their clinic has had its fair share of thieves. He is more in touch with his ability to concoct different medicines from what nature can offer because of being his father’s assistant before getting captured. However, he also has some basic knowledge on some poisonous results he can acquire from mixing two and two together.

When given the choice to attend a social gathering or head to the town library, Cedric would most definitely choose the latter unless he is required to go by his parents or some other external force that he has to be obliged to obey. For most of the male’s life he has considered books to be his most favourable form of company next to his family. He isn’t very expressive of his emotions and it’s not because he is cold-hearted or the like, but he just prefers to keep to himself rather to walk around like an open book. He would much rather go around unnoticed than to be the center of attention any day (but this can prove to be quite difficult since the first thing people notice, or are sometimes drawn to, are those piercing bright eyes of his). But when you do talk to him, he tries to act much like a gentleman as possible whatever gender you are and is just all around polite (Though he does has his slip-ups and can act rather critical when annoyed but not at a childish extent). He isn’t exactly a down to the core kind soul but he is quite considerate and would be willing to adjust things to your liking (though when he is a slave he does that rather begrudgingly). Also, since Cedric has read quite a lot of books about numerous topics and matters he is quite knowledgeable about certain things that most would probably not be aware about. He can sometimes come up with better ways to solve a problem and is very logical. Meaning he sees the practical side of things and tries to get all the facts first before coming up with (to him) a very plausible solution. This comes at a bit of a bad side-effect though, meaning Cedric does practically everything by the book. And he prefers it that way.

But, while having all these types of characteristics he could get rather flustered when you compliment him on it. He doesn’t really feel comfortable for some reason when getting complimented and would much rather stay in the shadows, although he will show gratitude for your words and offer a slight ‘thank you’ in return for your praise. His attitude also seems to reflect in his appearance. Wanting not to stand out, he prefers a much more simple appearance than most would prefer. Usually people would wear such flashy clothing they could afford but, even if he can save up money to buy them, he would much rather choose a simple brown or grey vest to some flashy blue coat and that white frilly tie. He also finds beauty in simplicity and, when it comes to clothing, much more comfortable too.

Easily Bored|Perfectionist|Vengeful|Crafty|Extremely Affected by Anger

While Cedric may look busy most of the time with his books (which he is), if taken away from them and is required to do something else, he can get bored rather easily when something he has to do doesn’t require much brain work. It can be rather shallow but this may also apply to those he would talk to that go about topics that stray far away from Cedric’s interest and even if they are not on the ‘intellectual’ level Cedric would have liked unless they make up for it in some way.

The boy can be a bit of a perfectionist as well and would only make sure he does his very best in everything he does (even though he is a little clumsy at times), even if it is slave work because then those non-human creatures wouldn’t have (much) of a reason to roughen him up when they get the chance. Even if he works rather hard as a slave he does not enjoy it one bit. Everyday he swears that he would escape his terrible fate and return to his parents, he just has to find the right moment but even he is unsure when that would come. But yet he waits patiently, even at times he gets frustrated he knows acting too early would mean death and all his efforts would be in vain. While doing his daily work at the fields his mind continues to craft ways on how to get out, or at least find a loophole in the castle’s security even if the security uses magic. No security is perfect or fool-proof and Cedric is determined to find out what could be that one flaw and just tries to act as inconspicuous as possible in his daily duties, avoiding eye contact, or any contact at all, with the non-human creatures to avoid attracting any unwanted attention. But he does listen in on their conversations when he gets the chance in order to update himself with what’s happening around him and to also maybe get some information about this whole area in order to plan an escape.

In all of Cedric’s slightly shallow but logical personality, his one major flaw is his tendency to become blinded by anger. He is a patient boy, very patient, so it would take a lot to anger him and if he did get angered he would just bottle it all up. But then one can only hold the anger in for so long and when he finally snaps, all common sense and logical thinking is thrown out the window and the boy can become dangerously unpredictable. Even if you think Cedric is incapable of one thing, he might do just that when driven to the right level of rage and frustration.

Born and raised in a moderately peaceful town, Cedric pretty much had a normal childhood although he did choose the company of knowledge over playtime with other children in his early age. It seemed that he was one of the few that actually thrived on studying with his father being his tutor and he always did have a clever way of getting his son to understand things instead of just reading it by the book. But even if he did Cedric still enjoyed it. His thirst for knowledge and what it contained broadened his way of thinking but also stumped his social skills a bit, not to mention he already was hesitant in talking to people he didn’t know very well.

He finds his family the only people he can really talk to and feels great responsibility over his little sister, making sure to take care of her well when their mother is busy. Cedric had always wanted to become a scholar on herbal medicine but alas it is only but a dream since obviously his family can’t afford such education (or find a good tutor for that matter since Cedric’s father only knows so much), which is why Cedric takes it upon himself to study all he can. Still, he is rather realistic and knows he would probably never reach that dream and would go for the second best thing of proudly taking over the clinic after his father.

Cedric and his family are very close and he treasures them greatly. So, when his mother suddenly comes down with a serious illness that is possibly lethal, Cedric takes it upon himself to search for a cure. From what he read, there seems to be a certain herb that grows deep in the forest that could help cure his mother but is very hard to find. Ignoring his father’s protest of his son going into unknown territory, Cedric sneaks out in the middle of a stormy night to go in search of that special white herb. Unknown to him though was that the boy was getting much too close to The Castle and was spotted by guards as soon as he had spotted the herb in some bushes near the wall. Confused by the hostility of the guards, he tried to reason with them and tell them why he was here only to be ignored and captured to be put in slavery because he was human. Also, there was a bit of a chase before he was captured but bumped into a tree, making him drop his glasses and before he could find it he was grabbed onto by the arms and placed in the registry as a slave.

Without his glasses everything is a complete blur. He can still make his way around by squinting his eyes or knowing what things are by the colors and vague shapes, but it still proves to be difficult and ultimately frustrating. If you two meet eyes and it seems like he’s glaring at you, don’t be alarmed because he’s probably just looking in your direction but trying to focus his eyes on something else. Maybe some type of plant you’re standing next to.

No matter how much he protested for a fair trial he was ignored and sent to work at the fields. But at least he was able to keep what he had brought with him at the time: A journal, a half-filled bottle of ink and quill, a book about herbs he was reading at the time, and lastly the white herb he was supposed to give to his mother. He hopes soon that his parents would find out where he is so he can send the herb.

When it comes to religion, Cedric has his own point of view on it. He believes in the presence of a higher being but some things that are dictated in writing he tends to think otherwise. Worshipping was never really his strong-point but he does try to make up for it through the ‘karma’ method. Cedric also assists with the minor injuries such as cuts, bruises, and slight sprains among his fellow humans with the available herbs he spots lying around. Since the non-humans have science and magic on their side, they probably wouldn’t miss a few missing plants.

· He has a very soft spot for birds since he find most of their sounds quite relaxing mixed with silence and a good book.
· He is very ticklish on his sides and thighs. ‘Especially’ his thighs.
· As a slave, he is told to never look at any non-human in the eye for it’s disrespectful. He obeys and even looks down like he is supposed to. However, his over-all position is very lax and probably disinterested, even placing his hands in his pockets when being talked to.
· He is naturally a bit clumsy but that seems to have gotten worse due to losing his glasses. It’s pretty funny since you see him being all serious and then tripping over a hoe on the ground.
· He doesn’t hate all non-humans, just those who caught him and the non-intelligent/impolite ones.
· He loves the sound of the flute or piano, although if he doesn’t know how to play them. Or any instrument for that matter.
· His journal is full of information on herbs, the residents he has observed, and other personal notes that he would much rather keep to himself.
· His handwriting is pretty neat but without his glasses it’s all over the place and messy.
· He does not mention nor show his need for his glasses since it is just useless to tell anyone.
