There are so many textures with such simple sketches I almost feel like this mermaid will move! O_O I love the expression and the colors. Sparkles add a very nice touch!~ She looks like she belongs in the water~

How did you do the scales? I was trying to do a similar effect before, and it came out . . . botched. O.o

uhh.. I actually used a bastardized brush in photoshop. You can play with the color and intensity jitter and that's what I did. I set it to jitter between green and blue. And then with the same idea... very dary green, very dark blue. And for highlights, very light green and very light blue. And then on top of that I took a specific scale brush my sister ( ) created and used it to fine tune the shadow with dark aqua and white for the scale shines. :> Does that help?

She is beautiful...the fins look so delicate, and I do love the shimmer of her tail. The hair cascades so nicely over her shoulders. Wonderful job. I hope to see more of her in the future ^^

Well probably not her specifically as she doesn't even have a name. But there will probably be other mermaids... or mermen. What would the ocean be without mermen? ^_^

Wow this is really nice. The coloring gives it a really cool effect and the colors work well together. The horns are very nice as well as the fins and scales on the tail. Fav +

I figured I'd make the horns the only thing that would counter balance all that blue. Something leaning towards an orangey color would work best, I thought. ^_^ Thanks for the comment!

Actually it didn't take much effort at all. The background is sorta BSed in as well as the moon. The hair was the hardest part but it's just plain black. The fish scales seem complicated but they're really not. It didn't take me very long to do those at all. It's because photoshop brushes are great. ^_^; Though a lot of my artwork spawns from bored doodling rather than planned art tactics. My art just... happens.
