Description Had a massive surge of inspiration lately, got and LMG and two rifles ahead of me. Here's a little insight into my most recent project so I'll give the details of these and see if anyone can guess what it is before it's finished.

On the right:

10x23mm Caseless & Explosive Tipped
Avg Magazine carries: 99

On the left:

M40 Dual function grenade (30mm)

So there we have it, also if anyone has scale diagrams with measurements of the M1 Thompson and the Spas 12 PLEASE send them to me!!!

Not that you wanted to have a discussion on caseless ammo but I'm not real busy. I lived and drove on gravel roads for many years and the first things to go wrong on cars I owned (not that this is uncommon anyway) was anything electronic. I think manufacturers are going to have a hard time convincing the people behind the gun that fragile electronic mechanisms are going to hold up to abuse better than good ole steel. I think that's a good reason why it's a pretty old concept that is still dead in the water. You've got people who still resist polymer frame guns even though the Glock has proven itself time and time again and every major firearm maker has got a plastic gun in its catalog today. So it might be tricky to tell them, we've replaced the moving parts with computer chips ... now go slog through mud and water and dust and GET SOME! Here are some extra batteries for your .... gun.

Anyway, I realize you're just creating here, not trying to justify caseless ammunition so I'll shut it.

No problems at all mate I'm kind of in that same boat, mechanical parts still work just fine and should always work without the aid of a computer

You have several valid points here. You can build all the technology in the world into a piece of equipment. But people will gravitate to what they know and trust.

It seems that it's pretty difficult to get people to let go of the old and get a hold on the new. I'm still a fan of good ole projectiles myself. I do think we are at a point where the materials in ammunition could possibly change in order to save costs but I'm not sure what those materials would be. Plastic probably.

Gotta be the M41-A Pulse Rifle!

Check this site:[link]

Jan has a paper model that is 1:1 scale. I've built it, very good model, especially for free. That might be a starting point for you.

wait ... how can it be caseless if it has a case? Could it be the Pulse Rifle from Aliens?

Indeed it is and look at the lower comment cuz like it says, "What looks like a shell is actually a high-density explosive with a round inside it"

I spent a while studying the rounds used by the G11

Exactly what I was thinking!

My idea of a caseless is just a lead round, (maybe jacketed) with the propellant in the hollow rear end. They would more than likely be electronically ignited, doing away with the need for a primer. The benefit would be that there would be no moving parts, such as a firing pin and the like to wear out. Theoretically, the thing could fire as fast as the electronics could send a pulse into each round. In other words VERY FAST. there would have to be software on the rifle to limit the rounds per minute fired. Otherwise you could set it to fore an entire magazine in say, half a second or faster. Tearing off the arm of the Marine firing it. Not to mention the gun exploding in your face!

Just my

Nope, these are not caseless rounds. I think the barrel would melt pretty quickly to. And some caseless rounds, like in the HK G-11 (No, i did not get this info from black ops..) actaully have the round encased in a block of propellent, there are two charges, one to push the round out of the propellent block into the barrel and then one detonate the propellent. Some also use rice paper cartridges that burn up, but those dirty the barrel pretty quick...

Learned this from studying the Heckler & Koch design, what looks like a shell is actually a tinted, high-density explosive with a bullet inside. I know what I'm doing mate

Allright, apologies, I've had to deal with a lot of people lately who really have no idea what caseless ammo is, or learned about it from COD... but you might consider changeing the color of the explosive and doing something about that rim, i think that's what threw me for a loop the most.

I'm going to be designing this M41A with the ability to fire cased rounds as well so that's why the little lip is there I'll find a more fitting material for the shell tho, cuz I don't really like how it turned out either
