Description Something I'd been wanting to do for a while, the Lore of Xanos carrying their young! (Or more simply, just a little info on how and why they do it)

-

Xanos come in various sizes, some are massive and others are what some would imagine the average dragon size to be (probably around 2 Clydesdales in one). Regardless of size, adult Xanos have an instinctive desire to pick up or carry those smaller than them (the desire is even stronger if the smaller one is slooooww). Most can just ignore it, it's not always a front and center instinct (most label it a minor instinct), and it's seen more predominant in Xanos who have offspring or are raising younger Xanos (ex: an older sibling)

The size of a Xanos or the structure of their mouth, usually determines how he/she carries the young.

-

Solomon (the large red and black dragon) has a rough and toothy mouth, if he tried to carry his son like you see the others doing, he'd kill Hiiro. Or badly injure him. Either biting straight through his son or biting his tail off. So ones like Solomon, typically carry their offspring in their mouths. And some large Xanos like Solomon, even without the toothy mouth, will carry small newborns like this. It's all down to preference with the adult Xanos.

Xanos who carry their young like Solomon does, will often rock their jaw or use their tongue to knock the infant into their mouth (out of the way of big teeth), so they can move faster/run without worrying about accidentally biting their young. Xanos of all variants are usually fine with their mouths going dry, and dry for hours too, depending on where they're going or what they're doing.

-

Neah, (the black and white male), since he is smaller than Solomon, he wraps his mouth around Hiiro an carries him like that. (And it helps he doesn't have an outer toothy mouth).

Hiiro when he was young, was very dramatic about being picked up, to the point, that after he was picked up, didn't matter who picked him up, he'd play dead (throwing a tantrum) for the first 5 or more minutes of being carried.

-

The last is just a random Mother, showing another way Xanos carry young, by their tails. Since Xanos usually lay between 3-10 eggs, it's easier to carry all the babies by their tails. She can carry them like that for an hour, before she needs to set them down and let the blood flow back through their whole bodies. Most parents will only carry them like that for 10 - 45 minutes.

-

Xanos are impatient, that's the biggest drive for this instinct, is if they have to follow someone pokey. They tend to complain, get crabby or try and just pick up the person.

Most Xanos's impatience is indicated by them asking about how much longer it'll take, where they're going and the biggest indicator they're about to pick someone up, is by them constantly glancing at the person, with their jaws slightly parted. (Most people get the impression they're about to be eaten, but no, most Xanos just want you to pick up the damn pace)
