Description

Participant of the CGTrader Digital Art Competition
www.cgtrader.com/
I'm entering CGTrader's competition for 2018 with a few pieces.
This one is for Environment Concept art.

This is a map I did for a writer in Sweden who wanted something to have on the wall of the studio while she worked on the story that the map is for. I tried to make it as inspiring as I could and am very pleased with the result.

I tried a number of new techniques with this map. The hilly forest is a new one that I really liked. I was also trying to improve on my digital watercolor techniques as well. Really should be viewed at full size. The original full size version for the client is 10x18 inches. Cheers.

Amazing map I'm so jealous because I want to do this too and I know I''ll need years to improve before I could do this. Looks like a lot of work too, how much did you spend on it?

SirInkman In reply to Maimunche [2015-09-13 13:42:27 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Maimunche.
This was my first real large scale perspective map of this sort.
It took me longer than it should have. I can do them faster now, after having done more of them.
It was a bit daunting when I started it. I think it took me 3 weeks to do.
However I was also working on 3 other map commissions at the same time so it would be hard to say how long exactly it took.

The best way to improve is just to start doing it. Do one. Then another. You get better each time.

Thanks for the tip. You're right. I've been doing maps lately and the more I do it the better and easier it is. Hope to see more of you're work soon, it's very inspiring

It's a very satisfying thing doing these maps.
Just as much as doing the weaponry.
You push yourself to learn new ways to render things.
