Berlin, Berlin Palace: 6:42 PM,
  Christmas Eve, 1950
    Bernard Fischer sat in a foxhole, staring through a periscope at the Russians across the river. The Spree was one of the last free zones in Berlin, but even soon it'd fall. Bernard knew it, but he didn't give a damn. He gripped his rifle at the thought of his fiancé- trapped deep within Salvationist territory on the other side of the Oder wondering if she was okay. He started welling up with tears. He kept his eyes from overflowing with too many tears. He was a sentry, a lookout and he needed to make sure the Russians weren't going to surprise attack. Instead all he saw- from sun up to sundown and even amidst the chaotic artillery and airstrikes- was partying. Apparently big man Stalin was a gracious man and had allowed his soldiers to slack off for the day or they were some of the few Reds who weren't total slaves to the Church. Bernard saw dancing and laughing, they were roasting something- something delicious. He could smell it clearly now. Some sort of roast. The Reds were also most likely warmer than he was, though that was most likely because they'd plundered every home and town from here to Riga.
    Bernard pulled away from his scope to gaze back at his latest and most likely last residence- the Berlin Palace. It was somewhat comforting that he wasn't alone at the end of the world, and that even as the Russians tried all they could, the Palace- wrecked with holes and shrapnel spittle- still towered strong and powerful. Though at the same time- it also was a perfect match for the state of Germany right now- dark, crumbling, battered, and all alone. He'd remembered fondly of the memories of the radio and news stations declaring that 'America had entered the war' and 'Ireland surrenders!'. He'd been filled with hope that one day Germany would be saved. But that day never came. American aircraft and ships would occasionally turn up- and even rarer- an American volunteer. But the massive army laced with olive-green tanks, chrome-colored planes, and enough men and guns to kill every Salvationist bastard never came.
    He heard orders being barked from the Palace breaking his silence and moodiness. It was the Kaiser or one of his remaining generals shouting orders, he tuned into the house- it was der Kaiser! Even at the end of his rope, Wilhelm seemingly still had vigor and energy. If he was to go down; "I am to go down swinging like a man, and not flailing and whimpering like a boy." The Kaisers words echoed in his head. That speech was delivered nearly 10 years ago when questioned about what would happen if the Reds really did crush Germany between their demonic hands. Wilhelm had told the whole of his empire- the whole world- that should push come to shove- and Germany be in tatters he would not leave. "Should Hell descend upon the Fatherland, I will defend all who seek to defile it to the very end of my bones! For I am not just Germany's ruler, I am the guardian of this empire and his people and I shall not rest- dead or alive, I shall watch over Germany." He remembered the last time he saw the old Prussian- he was on TV, looking just as war weary as his soldiers. Despite looking like Wilhelm would collapse from stress, Wilhelm continued through and delivered line after line of inspirations to his people for nearly an hour.
    A deafening roar cause him to stir out of his trance- it was artillery fire. The usual 7 PM delivery of shells kept him awake for the next hour or so, he turned back from the palace and looked towards the Reds. Still partying, still laughing and eating plenty. He and his stomach growled. The only rations he had were some of the reserve foodstuffs from the Palace's kitchen which were slightly more edible than the the Imperial Army's rations, but reheated baked beans in a can with a small square of chocolate wasn't exactly what he'd call a filling meal. He kept a close eye on them, constantly scrutinizing them. Bernard would continue the routine throughout the artillery barrage, and all throughout the night, the distant rumbles of skirmishes or a drunkard singing occasionally breaking up the monotony that was the night...

  Germany is doomed, but a few optimists are saying Germany will only be under Red rule for a few years, claiming that the Allies will once again put the French and the Hungarians in their place- and return Europe to peace. Others have taken a darker path, claiming that with Germany now under the Reds thumb, the end times and Armageddon they preach towards the heretical nations of the West will soon follow. While Germany may be in a bit of pickle, other Allies are doing considerably better. The Green Ukraine lives to see another decade, much of Occitania is now under Free French forces, and Central Asia has erupted into a whirlwind of activity as the Ottomans command their Islamic symphony. Britain meanwhile has pushed the French and Russians back in Wessex and Afghanistan respectively, though they couldn't have had done it without their allies- mainly the Unites States.

  As Beatrix continues to ramp up the American war machine- far outpacing the War of Northern Aggression and the Great War by several magnitudes, he's not only helped out America's frontline but the homefront as well. Promises of men in orbit by the 1960 and reformation of American intellectualism by not only revitalizing libraries, but by also making a new dialect of English- 'AmEnglish', a somewhat simpler yet more intricate form of English that could one day possibly be the nations official language. Though for now Beatrix and 'Starch have to focus on winning the battle and the war against the Utopian menace.

Will you choose wisely?

(A) Sultans and Shahs- Dragging in the Middle East's premier powers with a hatred of another so high it reached the moon first has caused some problems. Mainly the fact they don't wish to play nice with one another and on a few occasions, us. We must fix this problem before it turns real bloody.
3 can be chosen. You may not pick 2 that are connected by red dotted lines. But that doesn't mean you can only pick all on one side.

Americanize the Turks- The problem with the Turkish Republic is that its attempting to be a combination of old Osman authority mixed in with some elements of republicanism. We could attempt to federalize the Turkish state much the same we have our country- though a few may not like that idea.

Give them Gears- Within Reza's court are a few technocrats sympathetic to his cause- though they're few in number and small in influence. Perhaps with the help of VP Rautenstrauch, we could attempt to moderate Reza and see towards the future instead of the blind past of nationalist fervor.

Turkish Rockets- The Turks are much closer to the important cities and holds of Salvationist Russia, allowing them access to a bit of our arsenal might stall the Russian war machine and we may even get Stalin's head on a golden platter if they get a lucky shot.

Persian Rockets- Though then again, Turkey is unstable. Persia is much more stable and still able to reach important targets- such as the Trans-Siberian Railroad, if that set of tracks goes kaboom we could split Russia into a bunch of different parts!

Help Modernize- The Ottoman Republic is a slight bit archaic and even if we helped federalize them, that still wouldn't change the fact they're now losing to Italian and Japanese industrialization. Turkish troops are fighting with weapons nearly 20 years out of date and as we move forward to the 50's this is getting unacceptable!

Bring them to Yield- Persia is just spinning a tad bit out of control and is busy mass-industrializing the whole damn country at once. If this keeps up we could see a powerful and hostile power right next to a lot of oil and the heart of the Federation. By subverting it we could stall the Persians and keep them at a manageable level.

(B) Planning for the Stars- The Hermes Project as it shall be known needs to start off on the right foot, otherwise we may end up with a very challenging disaster we won't know how to deal with and may end up looking like fools to the world.

A Man to the Heavens- If we wish to further inhabit space we must learn how we react to this new and strange environment. Plus the press would be amazing, not just a rocket, and not just an animal, but a fully fledged man rising high above the clouds and into the void! An achievement that'd be.

Test Monkeys- Admittedly the press would slam us if we somehow lost our cosmonaut. Perhaps it'd be better to start off with monkeys and other animals to determine how life in general reacts to the emptiness of space.

American Launchsites- We may've agreed to work with the Brazilians and the Imperials on the Hermes Project, but we should remind them who's in charge of the whole thing- US.

True Co-operation- Calculations have shown a more equatorial launch site would be better to escape the Earth. And Brazil would be the perfect location for such a launch, so perhaps we could work with our friends a tad bit more.

Eyes Above the Sky- As of right now, the best technology we have would allow us to spy on the Salvationists, which is arguably good enough for now. Knowing what those secretive little roaches are up to would help us greatly in advancing the war and our own programs.

From America with Love- Perhaps within year or two we could have truly intercontinental missiles. The era of bombers would soon be gone as we'd be able to rain hell from far away and far above.

(C) Allies New and Old- Either we can help the nations we've been gifted with or we can try and bring in a couple more, while there aren't many other options, there are still a considerable few we can help or nudge in the right direction.

Co-operation with China- In exchange for some help against General 'Hong' and his forces (as well as a few conciliatory payments) we could bring in the biggest source of manpower behind the Raj, though first things first would be to deal with Hong and his savages.

Fund the French- With a good fourth of France under democratic rule, the French Republic has picked up steam and has been rapidly moving across the countryside of its former home. Now that we have a massive inning into Europe we could truly begin the liberation of Europe.

Giving to Green- We've nearly liberated the Green Ukraine, perhaps by further adding to the snowballing Greens we could free all of the Siberian tundra from Salvationist rule.

Calling on Chile- Chile has stayed rather neutral though this whole affair in Europe, though with Chile's massive mercantile fleet and her sympathies- we could easily bring in Chile and utilize the massive merchant fleet to supply our liberation of Europe.

Allying the Argentines- Much like the Middle East, the Argentine Republic faces off against the Tauist regime in Brazil in a silent standoff. But perhaps we could stop the staring contest for a second and use their massive land forces and farms to feed and power our allies across the globe.

The Boer Bosses- Mittelafrika is slowly breaking apart, the lack of new order from berlin and her seeming 'abundance' of resources is starting to crash as well. The Boers wouldn't be a major help in the war in the traditional sense, but perhaps buying out the Boers to police Germany's holdings could buy us some time and save Mittelafrika from certain demise.

Meanwhile America has seemingly stepped out of her little 'alien craze'. The DIA still continues to mutter on about it, but after a growing lack of new sightings and the crop circles being written off as some graffiti or some other vandal scam, interest has shifted away from the unknown stars to the ones right on our doorstep.

The Department of Foreign Affairs meanwhile has picked up on some new troubles. Kurdistan, or at least the regions with Kurd majorities have begun rising up across both Persia and Turkey. Two camps have formed within the DFA, or at least the bits that are focused on dealing with the Middle East.
Some of the more bleeding hearts have argued America should help out the Kurds and attempt to weasel out some sort of deal, possibly even try and make them independent.
Supporting talking with the Kurds must be done with [Talk] or [T]
And some of the more pessimistic or just sociopathic men have argued the Kurds- acting as terrorists have earned the right to be put down and shot at.
Supporting jailing or crushing the Kurdish resistance must be done with [Jail] or [J]
