As of 1980 the worlds premier powers can be divided into 2 distinct factions- the PPAC- founded by the US her AR's, France, China, and the former Imperial Federation. The PPAC typically stands for freedom, liberty, and values of the Enlightenment. While China, France, and the now successor state of the Royal Federation could each be great powers in thier own sense, they are small compared to the reach of the American empire and her domains. The US still to this day- even as she has shed 3 of her Autonomous Republics- stretches over 3 (4 if Antarctic bases count) continents and holds vast influence over the remainder of the world. She has ushered in an era of peace that threatens to be destroyed by other greedier and cold-hearted nations...

indeed America is opposed by an axis of glory-seeking states who wish to tear down the values of the modern world and return to a time in which kings reigned supreme and the peasantry were at mercy of his cabal. Opposite the PPAC is the Blood Iron Pact. Founded by Italy in the midst of WW2, it blew up in popularity as Glorianism spread like wildfire across a rebounding Europe and growing anti-American sentiment. The Blood Ironers believe in creating a world free of Christianity- claiming that such a religion will lead back to Utopianism, blissfully unaware thier own cults lead them to the same savagery as thier hated enemies. The Blood Iron pacts main powers however are of Italy and Japan- who've never really been friends with the US. And then the other three are Grand Britannia, the Final Reich, and the Russian Tsardom. All three of which were once allies of the Union- now bitter and frosty enemies to democracy and liberty.

Other powers exist within the world stage- outside of the 2 faction dynamic. The Ealadians of Arabia can boast to be the largest Utopian power- though nowhere near as impressive as Salvationist Russia in size or industry, her ferocity would make Stalin blush. The Boers of Africa- who've hunkered down and practiced armed neutrality are now reaping the benefits of a broken and new Africa. And Brazil- while an American ally has always been more regionally focused- typically honing her attention onto Argentina and the nations around her instead of the world at large.

While the world exists with America as her champion, the Glorians are rapidly catching up and not just on the Earth, but in the final frontier of space. The question for next decade, next century, and next millennia will be to see if America- shining city on the hill- can hold to the combined prowess of the Blood Iron Pact and all other future threats...
