Description I shot this at dawn from a small boat afloat in the Ganges river in Varansi, India. I find this image quite haunting, but even the slightest tinge of misty Ganga memory holds a very haunting power. Ahhh India! I MUST return.

Aren't Brahman widows supposed to cover themselves and only bath during the early morning so that other Brahmans can't see them? She looks like she fits that description.

Wow! What can we even say about this shot. It almost indescribable the amount of emotion and energy that is contained in it. I first felt the kind of "haunting" aspect but it is also very peaceful. The wavy reflection in the water so beautiful. I may have to buy a print

I've seen this in photo.net (or alike) while browsing there,
and I'm glad to find this here aswell, for this is one of those
images that have left me completely speechless. What is
he/she thinking? That is the haunting question.

Also, this is visually very effective. The purple against the yellow,
all those hues of blue and green, and the abstract reflection.

I think this should be published in a book/magazine under a category of
'photos that changed the world'. It really is that amazing.

Wow.. that is very haunting. I want to visit India.. isn't it great?
I love her reflection in the water also.. reflections can freak the hell out of you, here it looks like another 'self' of hers.. If you'd want to emphasize the reflection you could cut a bit off the top to get a symmetry into it, although that's just what I would do
Lovely colours too

This is very poetic in the nature of the composition of the elements in this scene. An unnamed and faceless figure sits meditating below the steps and near the riverbank. Typically the river is symbolic of life and life's journey's. Steps can also be symbolically looked upon in that same fashion. So we have a robed faceless figure that could stand as a symbol of the "everyman" sitting there mediating upon his/her life and lifepath. The yellow hue of the cloth is very bold and it stands out instantly grabbing the attention and focus of the viewer. Hmmm, I wonder what the symbols on the cloth mean and if they have any bearing to his/her mediation by the river?

This is my favorite shot of yours for many reasons. Obiously the quality and colors and thoughts invoked, like the rest. But, this one is just striking. The power of meditative "reflection". (I can only assume feminine characterization.) She, sitting beside herself, questing. Finding true reality. Able to find peace within. Solitude does such a good job of escaping me, that an image such as this causes me to search more. Another fine visual & spiritual experience. Your gallery has completed my day before it was over.

Wow, thanks again for the glowing review!

I'm always curious why everyone assumes the person under the cloth is a female. I don't know myself, but most of the "ascetic types" are pretty thin from fasting, etc. Male or female, when you're that thin it's hard to tell the difference. I'm pretty pleased with this one myself. I was passing by in a small boat and only had a few seconds to whip out the camera and fire off one frame before the boat passed too far. I'm glad you like it.

I guess the ambiguity of the figure just adds to the, um, amazingness(?) of the whole thing. I'll have to be confounded many more hours when the print shows up at my door.

Im a big fan of reflection shots but I wasnt expecting such a wonderful one! So much mystery in the women and the spiritual reflection in the water. The wonder and mysticism this picture produces is increadible. For one, it is a entirely different culture - and two, who is this women? Its increadible that I see so much beauty in someone that isnt even exposed - only adding the mystery. And mystery - mystery is what makes life enjoyable and interesting.

This elicits SUCH emotion. In most cases I'll always have something to say about a particular piece...but every now and then I'll come across a shot that actually leaves me completely and utterly...speechless.

This is one of them.

(And I hardly fave anything, so when I do...it really means something.)
