For me, this really conveys a feeling of exhaustion and the horror of battle--too much of both to actually want to talk, but with the feeling that each other's presence makes all the difference. Very nice!

That's a pretty spot-on interpretation. The 'difficult journey accompanied by friends/lovers' part of Dragon Age really found its way into this piece, even though it was originally meant to be a general Cousland/Alistair scene.
