Description Sorry about the jpg tier quality.

Ceres was colonized in the 21st century, and quickly became the hub of mining operations in the asteroid belt. Cities were dug into it's surface and rotated to combine spin gravity with that of the dwarf planet. Ceres' rotation was slowed down to once every 24 hours, allowing the cities to be lit naturally through a single dome on one end. Eventually these cities grew a life of their own that eclipsed their original function as mining outposts. Ceres had become the New York City (cities) of space. Politically, Ceres was divided into different city-states, (which sometimes founded colonies of their own.) Disputes were resolved peacefully by the nations back on Earth.

When the Second Space War broke out, the asteroid belt became an especially dangerous neighborhood. Late into the war, Ceres was abandoned as shattered supply lines threatened to make it uninhabitable. It's citizens fled outward to Jupiter, Saturn, and the Ice Giants beyond. The end of the war saw a shift in power away from Earth, and the Martian Argyrains claimed an empty Ceres for themselves. A decade after the war, former citizens of Ceres were allowed to return, although portions of the planet would be set aside for Martian colonization, and the entire dwarf planet was to be administered from Mars.

Today, Ceres has largely returned to it's industrial roots, and is once again becoming a prominent force in the solar system. Relations between the Old Cereans and the Martians have remained amicable for now. A new shipyard is going to be built in orbit to supplement Martian fleets, and it is hoped that the construction of civilian spacecraft can be made into a viable industry here.

The Moon Colonization 2027 thing was a joke, but I did have a serious idea for colonizing the Moon by building a 500 km diameter ringworld under the surface. Underground cave-cities would be less ridiculous of course, but 0.16 g doesn't seem healthy for Humans to live in. (Maybe everyone on the moon would evolve to hop around like kangaroos? )

Well, I'm not even convinced that a significant number of people would be willing to subject themselves to Moon gravity for a lifetime, instead of temporarily. And it's possible that a person would be able to walk normally on the Moon without a stiff spacesuit and/or after their bones and muscles had adapted to to the lower gravity.
