Well depends how you interpret what made them "imperfect", I'm on the boat that void doesn't make anything hollow, because the Collector has thoughts even being made of 100% void, Pale King was just forcing a circle into a triangle hole.

This doesn't make much sense, like why a lover bug would care to collect grubs? Is more easy to see that Collector distorted their own work because of the grubs we save look a lot like moth grubs, my theory is that PK tried to exterminate all moths to not have a Radiance resurgence because they are closer to the dream realm than other bugs so they are a threat because they have a way to break the seals, like don't think is a bit weird we only see one alive moth even when they supposedly are the only sentient bugs from the kingdom before PK came around? They have temples and culture so they were intelligent before PK came around to screw things up.
And that's the thing the true Hollow Knight doesn't exist is an idea PK made of his own lack of knowledge of what the void truly was made off, again this enter on theory territory but for me the void was an older god that was defeated by Radiance and sealed away in the Abyss, so it lose its form and mind, we see Void statues pretty away from the Abyss and the void was worshipped by the not moth bugs and the game is pretty in your face that gods are real entities and can be made if you believe too hard great prince Zote. And it only being whole again thanks to the Godtuner "Device that resonates with beings of great power." like the statues we gain are for beating it were "Not bug, nor beast, nor god", "Void given form" and "Void given focus" and to focus you need to have a mind beforehand, and Shade Lord physical form have nothing to do with Ghost, so I like to think we just a puppet from the SL to defeat their old enemy, Radiance, and gain their powers again, with all we know Ghost should be dead when they fell so I see it we were revived and controlled by the Shade Lord, this for me is the only reason why we can get our shade back while the other siblings can't. And this doesn't enter the fact we are from the same age from Hollow and didn't grow, what makes my theory Ghost is dead dead, and Hollow train for years to beat Radiance and we canonically do all that in one night what show we have a higher power than a vessel that train all their life.
The Void Heart is pretty interesting again this goes how you interpret it, like for me it shows that Ghost need to accept they were truly dead, something they were ignoring or forgot ever since they got out of the Abyss, we literally are playing with a Hallownest ghost, and again if they remember something they have a mind so this can be to show the player that Ghost is sentient just like all the "failed" vessels and how horrified PK plan was.

I think Shade Lord existed before because some of the Soul Totems look a bit like them:

Even that them being a being made of goop they could change and probably possess anything or anyone, so the changing of forms was probably normal because the Soul Totems aren't this much similar to each other, probably they pick what was stronger at the moment, or can be that each cult have a different set of beliefs and Void being a force of nature could be malleable to their needs of understanding the world.
I don't think Radiance really cared this much for PK, like yeah she hated him and even pick an older force, the Infection, to destroy him and anyone that betrayed her, like she controls the dream realm so I think she noticed when the void killed Pale King. My theory goes is that she only got really pissed when the king discovered the void and started to mess with it, and she did everything in her power to try to destroy the kingdom before waking the void even more, this is why the knowledge of PK of the void is basically zero, and with the knowledge that void can enter the Dream Realm with the only need to have someone stuck there like he did with the Kingsmould before the palace

I think Radiance would be quite desperate because now void have three easy ways to kill her in her weak state, I think that gods of that world need constant adoration to get powers, this is why PK made a cult of himself after getting to Hallownest and why he banned people to care about the Radiance, and why Prince Zote even exists in the god realm.
And the other reason I think Shade Lord or something similar existed before because it makes a great two sides of the same coin with Radiance, she too can be seen as a force of nature of that world, she is after all the sun given form and I think was with time that her powers started to morph to be more attuned to the moths believes, so now she not only the sun but has control of the Dream Realm, like for me is a bit weird something, the sun, that is associated to waking up being about the god for dreams too. But going back to the Shade Lord, having both darkness and light in a constant struggle to see who gets to the top or become a god while the other rot is a fun theory, like have the good old age of light and age of darkness depending who won the fight, but this is just my theory how that worked before PK even came and screw everything up.
I hope that Silksong going to make it more easy to understand how that world really works with Hornet being able to talk, even that I liked the idea that Hallownest is just the weird kingdom where anything goes because the gods that go to there are just dicks to each other for no good reason.
