Saw it live in 1980 and 1981 in the Uk
To be honest I'm not that fond of the album any more. Much prefer the final Cut- very underated.

Just listened to the music. Saw an interesting animated music video of hammers goosestepping down the street to the music.

That is part of the anim they projected on to the wall after it was built (during the first half of the gig). It is in the film too which is equally depresssing - not watched it in years.
To be honest I don't listen to much Floyd anymore. I have hours probably days worth of live material alone and then there are the actual releases, alternative takes and various stuff that I commited to a tape collection all in chronilogical order years ago - probably all suffering from print through now.

The only time I listen to Pink Floyd is whenever the local rock station lines it up with its daily runs.

... and the history surrounding the old tech and music too if its old.
I have never been a Jazz fan buit there is a sweet spot sitting in between rag time and swing around the 1920's that just grabs me.

I was more into the later Swing era, with some R&B from the late 1950's.

There was a large difference between UK and the USA orginal psyche but since the mid 80's there was a blending so to speak and good stuff from the UK was ongoing with good stuff from the States and Australia as well. I suppose really that I'm Indie rock with 60's undeground tinge sort of guy.
Actually, too many labels nowadays.

That's for sure on the labels. And the general blending of the beat and sound between the countries probably a holdover from the colonial days.

I have found the incorpration of world music quite refreshing into more traditional western grooves. I have come across some eastern European bands that incorporate traditional vibes with rock. I suppose its just a continuation of that eastern drone/vibe into music that started in the 60's

I think I'm following you. My youngest son introduced me to a Russian band that is pretty damn good. I do like the blend of Eastern style music with Caribbean, African, and soul.

I got my youngest son on Jethro Tull while he got me to listen to Gorillaz. My eldest got hooked on Sabaton and I followed along.

He's suppose to be having a rock opera later in the year on the West Coast about the life of Jethro Tull, the man who invented the seed drill for agriculture.

Heard something about a US west coast tour but I was mainly interested in Steve Wilson's input as he has/is remixing some early Tull material. I am a great admirer of Steve Wilson.

No not at all.
Started his career mid 80's with his band Porcupine Tree - the later albums are a must. His solo work is very diverse and in some cases just brilliant. Other than his musicianship/song writing he is a very good sound engineer/producer and is/has remixed many classic albums from Tull, Yes, XTC amongst others

Title track off he last solo album.
I saw him live at the Albert Hall back in March - wonderful.

It was great. I used to be a prolific gig goer but not so many any more so it was great to go to any gig but this was something else.

Too bad. Enjoy myself on the water at times. Should have gone Coast Guard or Navy instead of Air Force. Had a great grandfather who sailed merchant vessels from Hamburg.

Thats interesting re your Great Grandfather.
My alt universe problem is - do they float or hover as the tech gets more sophisticated. Initially I have an idea for hybrids in the early days of the tech.

Better to float, as hovering was something that had involved the early helicopters. And that took too much trial and effort.
