The Mars Model battleship was among the most heavily used military vessels within the Sedi Federation before the invasion of the hoard. While classified as a battleship, the Mars was rarely, if ever, used for frontline combat, instead serving as a light carrier and long range support vessel. While having considerable defenses, the Mars’ offensive capabilities were limited to two cannons and its large number of missiles. Instead of directly engaging a target, it would use its assortment of fighters and bombers along with support from smaller vessels to fight. If this wasn’t enough, the Mars was able to rapidly fire up to 48 tactical nuclear missiles. Despite all this, ships like the Mars would be annihilated in droves by the time the alien hoard invaded, which brought the entirety of the Federation’s fleet doctrine into question and would later lead to radical reforms.
