Hmm... I'm really, really not sure how to explain this picture.

Some frightened young girls get fairy godmothers. Some frightened young girls get guardian angels. Some girls, on the other hand, get sorrow, and heartache, and fear, and nothing to protect them from it. As a result, they begin to feel helpless and alone. And yet, they are wrong.

Just because you can't afford a guardian angel doesn't mean you aren't entitled to any guardian at all.

"When life is crushing you, when the whole world seems to be against you, when you have no one to turn to and no one to save you, I'll be there for you. I'll take on the world, I'll steal your tears, I'll tear the darkness to pieces just so you can get some sleep. Why? Because I am the one for those who have no other guardian or god to watch over them. Because you must survive, and you must have someone on your side. Because I'm your guardian demon. And most of all, because you're my girl."

The original of this picture is meant for as an expression of gratitude for all that she's done for me. This picture was actually inspired by [link] - my first oil painting on canvas, which may look awfully screwed up to you, but it meant a whole lot to me in my high school years. I had it up on the wall above my bed for many, many years, and in my hardest times, I'd always look up to it and draw strength, understanding and bravery from it. What started out as a random portrait gradually turned into my own personal guardian, councilor, advisor, talisman, dream-catcher and what not. Unfortunately, I no longer live in a house where I am able to put this picture up on my wall. But I recently thought of the immense support I drew from my music-inspired, semi-fictional fiend-protector, and I envisioned a room where it was the guardian that had a portrait of his girl, in her innocent yet lonely years, and he stood ever so watchful, always remembering, always protecting, and always ready to stand up to everyone that would even try to hurt her...

This painting is also dedicated to everyone who has ever had this music help them pull through their pains, and to all the scared little (or grown-up) girls and boys who need to feel that they are not alone.
