Description Full name:
Liakada Nikos-Arc

Age: 18

Nicknames:
Lia, Fireball

The eldest child of Jaune Arc and Pyrrha Nikos, "Lia" grew up in the bosom of the family that formed around theΒ  teams RWBY, JNPR, SSSN and CFVY in the aftermath of the "Grimm Incursion." She demonstrated powers and abilities that matched, if not surpassed, those of her mother at an early age, and is considered by some to be the "Next Pyrrha Nikos."

She was accepted into Signal Combat school early, but unlike her mother did not let her fame or her abilities keep her from forming deep relationships, particularly with her "BFF's" Bianca Schnee and Zanna Xiao-long.

Her Semblance being fire, she spent a great deal of time with "Auntie Yang" and modeled her appearance after both her and her mother. She shares a good element of Yang's personality as well, being hard-headed, free-spirited and stubborn.

Her mother's fame and legacy has only pushed her to excel, making her own way in life: this has created a tendency to be self-reliant, sometimes at the expense of those close to her.
She uses no weapon, making use of her semblance to be her offensive force, though she is trained in Sword and Shield combat.

her relationship with her younger Brother, Jaune Jr. or "JJ" is...strained, at best. while she was never hostile or bullying towards her brother, she has never been able to make a connection with him on a deep, meaningful level, which affects her deeply, though she does not voice it.

Color Rule Name: "Liakada" Greek for "sunshine"

Background: for a "Pyrrha survives" AU where Pyrrha, achieving Maidenhood, struggles to be there for her kids as they grow up in a very different world.

Why is it she looks like she's the gay sex baby of Pyrrha and Yang?

(Just kidding, but she does look strikingly like Yang.)

I love it to death.

because she loves "Aunty Yang" and her semblance is fire-based, so she modeled herself after Yang and her Mother.Β

WAIT WAT.

Never expected a fling between Yang and Lie to happen... and I would expect that they would've gone for some of that Vacuo Vodka...

I wonder who's gonna have kids on my characters' end... for one thing, I and my self-insert counterpart have the hots for Yang... but that's probably some far-fetched fantasy...

For another one of my characters, Ciana DiAmant , it'd make for an interesting complication.Β  Her Semblance can potentially convert her entire body and everything in it and her armaments/accessories/clothing into living Aura, becoming a blast of pure Auric energy.Β  However, if she were to become pregnant, then her body would automatically shut the total conversion down (reducing it so that she can only access her "partially converted" form), because while her body knows how to put itself back together, it's not so good at putting any super complex structures (such as certain other organic bodies) back together too well.Β  This could result in killing the baby growing within her, and her body recognizes it... even if she doesn't at the moment.

well, Lia manifested her semblance (she's basically a firebender) at an early age: so "Auntie Yang" took her under her wing and trained her so that she wouldn't, you know, become an unintentional arsonist.
as a result, Lia modeled her look after that of her aunt and her mother. some of Pyrrha's old armor, redesigned corset, some fire-proof gloves from Yang, and of course a scarf.

Yang has no pyro abilities. Only her hair lights on fire. That's it. I only seen two people with fire powers in RWBY.

her Hair going off like that can still set shit on fire, she'd have had to learn to control that. if nothing else she can give Lia pointers (not to mention her Semblance probably gives her a better chance of surviving any training "accidents")

Yang and Ruby are the primary "guardians" of the Nikos children while JNPR are off doing in-depth missions for Ozpin: aside from Ren and Yang having kids of their own, she knows what they're doing is some serious stuff, and they'll be able to focus better if Pyrrha and Jaune know their kids are safe.

Yang has kids of her own, of course, but she treats Lia and JJ like her own kin.

it's natural she'd train Lia.

And THAT ties into just how Pyrrha got the Maiden powers in the first place.
( she is the fall maiden in this AU.)

Then what happened to Cinder? And the Maiden powers cannot be passed down by hereditary means.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Soundwave3591 In reply to ACGearmaker [2016-05-21 03:43:34 +0000 UTC]

it's not the maiden powers Lia inherited, rather it's a series of convoluted aura-bindings and twists that came about as a result of the fight between Pyrrha and Cinder beneath Beacon Tower. yes, BENEATH.

in this AU, Pyrrha managed to absorb Amber's chunk of the Maiden's power before Cinder could kill her: this naturally led to Cinder turning her attention to Pyrrha.

Ozpin managed to hold Cinder off long enough for Pyrrha to snap out of the disorientation caused the transferal (and no, Amber's "soul" didn't come with her Aura, so none of the "fighting for control of her body/ Personality overwriting" stuff occurred)

but unlike Amber (apparently) Pyrrha had these amazing powers combined with world-class fighting skills: she was already able to match Cinder martially without the powers: with them, (albeit barely controlled due to inexperience) she was more than able to hold her own.

between maiden Pyrrha and Ozpin, Cinder was soundly defeated. however Pyrrha's compassionate nature (and residual memories of her recent "murder" of Penny) kept her from delivering the final blow, and Ozpin was too weak to do so.

and so it fell to Jaune.
Literally.
he Fell and accidentally stabbed Cinder with his sword.

Cinder's chunk of the Maiden's powers were abruptly transferred to Pyrrha, making her the complete Maiden, and along with them came some of the elemental parts of Cinder's flame abilities attached to her aura (introspection, here: we really don't know what the full spectrum of the maiden powers are, only that they are tied to Aura and become weaker as it is depleted, shown by how Amber had to resort to trying to stab Emerald with her staff after her aura was drained.)

these were in turn passed to Pyrrha's first-born child: Lia (again, more introspection, as we don't know how Aura is formed in newborns: this works on the assumption that a portion of the parents' aura is transferred to the child.)

I know the Maiden powers can only be passed to Lia if A: she is the last person Pyrrha is thinking about before her death (which isn't unlikely, mind) and B: she is deemed worthy of inheriting them.
she's already got the "young female" bit down.

Contradictions. Too many contradictions, even for an AU. But you can still draw whatever you want.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Soundwave3591 In reply to ACGearmaker [2016-05-21 05:36:23 +0000 UTC]

contradictions? such as?
(note that this AU is still VERY WIP: the primary focus was meant to be on the Nikos-Arc Family issues, and i've only recently begun to realize that in order for those issues to OCCUR i need a convincing backstory. I'd welcome any input.Β  )

I know the major issue with Pyrrha and accepting the Maiden's powers (aside from the moral issues of essentially stealing someone elses' aura) was the fear that the process would (from what i understood) overwrite her personality, either suppressing her aura and personality, merge them with Amber's, or erase hers entirely, letting Amber walk away with Pyrrha's body while she disappeared.

I'm taking the angle that, well, none of those things happened: Pyrrha got Amber's aura, but her personality and so forth didn't come along with them.

and as we didn't know what Amber's semblance was before she became the Maiden, we can't say for sure her own inherent pre-maiden Semblance wasn't pulled along with the powers into Cinder after she was killed.

Do you know the effects of causality? If you change even the slightest action off it's intended course, you can lead to unforeseen consequences. Like if Jaune had stopped Cinder like he was supposed to, he might have died instead. That would have led you to making up a new story in untreaded territory.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Soundwave3591 In reply to ACGearmaker [2016-05-21 18:57:39 +0000 UTC]

THIS story is in untreaded territory.
(and I've conceived of a few 'Jaune dies' stories as it is)

this is working off the "splintered link" in the "Chain of events" that, instead of what happened in actuality, it took Cinder much longer to get down to the vault: those crucial few seconds/minutes allowed the transfer of Amber's power to Pyrrha to be completed, instead of cut off before Pyrrha could actually absorb any of the powers.

in the 'new chain" that is forged, Pyrrha becoming the Fall Maiden allows her to become the "guardian" Ozpin was seeking her to be. however, Jaune refuses to be separated from Pyrrha after all the weirdness that had occurred (nor will Pyrrha leave him) so Ozpin is forced to reveal to Jaune the basics about what just happened.

one of the unintended side effects of THIS occurrence, however, is that Pyrrha and Jaune, though they have children, are often both away from home, as one of Ozpin's conditions for letting Jaune into "the know" is that he travels with her at all times as her guardian: the better to prevent what happened to Amber from reoccurring (indeed, one of Pyrrha's fears when she became pregnant was that Ozpin might force her to give up the baby entirely)

while this isn't as much of an issue for Lia, who is focusing on her own training in the care of Ruby and Yang, for their son Jaune Jr, or "JJ" who has neither manifested Aura or Semblance, he develops both an inferiority complex and abandonment issues.

obviously the "setup" is at the end of Volume 3. over the course of the subsequent Winter, Pyrrha goes through a metamorphosis of sorts before emerging as a full-fledged Maiden with the coming of spring (no, she's not the "spring" Maiden, she will appear later) able to contain the energies within her and use them to some degree without exhausting herself.

Ozpin, who has been recovering from his fight with Cinder, finally approaches her and informs her that she has to begin training in order to fully master her powers. On the condition that JN_R Stays with her, Pyrrha and her team bid farewell to their friends, promising to meet again, and goes off with Ozpin to begin training.

Β at another secret location where the "guardians" meet (Vacuo or Mistral, one of the two) she meets the "Spring Maiden" (an OC) who helps her to properly channel her abilities, as well as merge them with her own inherent Semblance. through meditations, induced trances and training regimens of varying intensity, Pyrrha starts to become one with her power.

As this time passes and her control over her powers grows, Pyrrha also grows closer to Jaune, who is becoming quite the warrior in his own right. While Ozpin accepts that having her team along was the only way to make Pyrrha agree to come with him, Ironwood is concerned her loyalty to her team-especially Jaune- may circumvent her responsibility to the world.
Β
Meanwhile, team RW_Y (Weiss stays with Ruby and Yang in this AU instead of letting Papa Schnee drag her back to Atlas) go off to track down Blake and Find out about who Cinder's Superior was, in lieu of returning to Beacon: while the school is not overrun with Grimm in this AU, everything that went on at the Vytal festival has generated a shroud of suspicion around both Ozpin and Atlas, and so the school is temporarily closed. team CFVY joins them in their quest, and Qrow watches over them from Afar.

cut to three years later: the now 20-year-old Pyrrha is a fully-fledged maiden in both power and ability, and feels ready to undertake her duties. She has also secretly married Jaune: only her team and the Spring Maiden know.

Ozpin agrees, and has the perfect mission in mind: Team RW_Y (who have found-and subsequently lost-track of Blake several times in the past few years) has made their way to Mistral in their pursuit of Cinder's followers, and has gotten in a bit over their heads: Emerald and Mercury, along with Neo, have started exploiting the festering dissent between the Haven students and Beacon Students over Yang's attack on Mercury to cause a rift between Vale and Mistral: Huntsman from either Kingdom have refused to undertake missions in the other, which is undermining one of the key articles of the Vytal Treaty. Cinder's Statement that she is from Haven have also created Suspicion of that school in people's minds.

Atlas, meanwhile, continues building it's Military Machine under the continuing scrutiny and scorn from the other Kingdoms after Ironwood's failure to protect the Vytal festival and the Broadcasting of the doctored images of Atlesian forces attacking Vale. while statements as to the Hacking of the robots have been released, that hasn't satisfied people as they are wondering how Atlesian tech could be so easily manipulated. the belief that there was a mole inside Atlas command had engendered distrust and paranoia in that nation, and security measures have increased.

meanwhile the White Fang, freed of Cinder's control, have become more militant and Brash in their efforts, attacking Vale several more times while it's defenses are compromised. Adam is still holding true to his pledge to 'destroy" everything Blake loves: to that end he has put bounties on team RW_Y's heads, as well as JNPR's.

and to top it all off, the Grimm Dragon from under the mountain is still out there...but has seemingly disappeared.

Raven Branwen links up with a hooded figure as the two overlook the lights of Mistral from afar... and comment that it will soon be time for the Maiden's annual "banquet" with the "old Man."

in her realm, Salem watches over these events from afar: she knows she will need a new pawn in order to fully realize her goals..but she will need to wait a while.

as Pyrrha sets out with her team to link up with RW_Y and CFVY, that she realizes something has...changed, inside her.
it doesn't take too long for her to figure out what that something is.

It is into this world that a small, seemingly insignificant organization of scientists, Military men, industrialists and Grimm Experts have begun to congregate and discuss what the future may hold...

First off, this enormous text wall is giving me a headache. Ow.Β Pyrrha's transfer was unnatural, so she cannot be a full Fall Maiden if she has half the power. And even if Cinder dies, there's no guarantee her final thought would be of Pyrrha or if the power would return to it's other half.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Soundwave3591 In reply to ACGearmaker [2016-05-22 01:10:31 +0000 UTC]

...even though that's exactly what happened in the actual events?

despite the fact that the machine was pulling her Aura out of Amber, as soon as she died the power immediately withdrew from Pyrrha and shot right into Cinder to rejoin it's other half, as Ozpin feared it would.
