Yeah I can appreciate that This was march and it was bitterly freezing, the cold air coming off the falls is something out of this world.

its not that great...lolol
pictures always make it look so much nicer then it acctually is.
the waters green, kinda dirty and it stinks >.<

i live there, but its deffinatly nice for like a vacation, lots to do for visitors ^_^

Pictures always make EVERYTHING look nicer than they are, except if you're actually trying to make it look worse D:

Weird! I went to the canadian side before the american side. I didn't plan to go there at all but we were driving from maine to tennessee and I noticed from a rest area map that we were only a few miles from it, I had no idea we were anywhere near it so we went along to have a poke
Glad you like the picture, the snow/ice was lovely around it.

The falls are lovely, but the area of about half a mile's radius on both the canadian and american sides needs to be razed! (I've viewed it from both sides)
All the tourist crap really ruins it :/

I spent a whole day back some years ago walking around the American and Canadian sides and loved it.
-I kind of like 'some' of the tourist-y stuff, gives me something more to do. But some of it just comes off as gaudy, unfortunately.
-The amount of people definitely ruins it for me.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'razed'. What didn't you like about it?

I now live about 20 to 30 minutes from the American side of the Falls. Hoping to get to go there more now that Spring is coming back.

I don't know, I just hate tourist stuff, it's always so tacky and if I want useless crap I go to ebay xD Big obnoxious signs, people trying to look official as they wave cars into commercial car parks, just the sheer level of money lust, it just seems a real shame, and it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I wonder what the falls were like before westerners ever saw them, and I think it would be nice if there was that sort of element of discovery to it. I think it's better on the american side (bizarrely) because there's a sort of state park running along it and all the tourist crap has to crowd around the edge, but in Canada IIRC it was all right up against it.

I think it's a nice time to go! There are always a lot of people, but there weren't as many as I expected. We were able to park in the street opposite the park (there were about 8 empty street spaces right beside a carpark where cars were lining up to pay $5 to park XD) so I assume that meant it wasn't that busy in relative terms
