Description
The Pennastromidea are a clade in the Quadrivalvidea family.
They stand out the four colored feathers which swing with the currents and which serve as their digestive organ. When they feel threatened, Pennastromidea have the ability to lock themselves in their shell; they leave it when the danger is no longer felt.
Their life begins with a larval stage before coming to settle permanently on the seabed. The juvenile, shell-less, is very exposed to dangers and predators. Their great number is their strength and only the most tenacious (or the luckiest) will succeed in forming a protective shell that will allow them to reach the adult stage.
