Location: Vista Waikoloa, Big Island, HawaiiCamera: Fuji FinePix Z4900
While in Hawaii, I was able to capture and photograph this beautiful little gecko. I believe that this species of lizard was introduced to the islands and is not native.
Overall, he was quite calm as I shot photos of him from different angles. The white, studio-like background was a posterboard. The lighting is natural light from an overcast day. I love the rich color and texture of the scales. Following the shoot, this little fella went on his way.

I really like the tight, crouching postion the gecko has its body in here. It's very...uh...gecko-like.

Excellent photograph of a Phelsuma laticauda laticauda (Gold Dust Day Gecko). One of the easiest and most common Day gecko's to keep.

Yes, these group of Phelsuma are very easy to keep, one of the few Day Gecko's recommended for novices.
The adults are fairly small in size, averaging only 13cm (5.1 inches), and can be housed in a modest sized terrarium, such as the Exo-Terra PT-2602 (12" x 12" x 18").
Feed crickets and baby food...mist with a spray bottle two or three times per day to keep humidity around between 65-85%, and keep daytime temperature in the mid 80's with a 10-15 degree drop at night.
