Spikytastic β€” Parrot the Critics Stamp

Description Yoooou know the type. The kind of person who loathes Final Fantasy 8 because Spoony told them to, or mindlessly parrots everything that the Nostalgia Critic, the AVGN, or Yahtzee says about a movie, show, or game.

Mind you this: I like all of the above reviewers. Is it alright to agree with them? Sure! May their complaints be justified? Of course, even if I don't agree (for instance I'm quite fond of Final Fantasy 8, and 10 is one of my favorite games).
But remember this: they're real people with their own opinions, tastes, likes, and dislikes. Their words and opinion are not the gospel and the be-all say-all of quality.

Form your own fucking opinion.

It's even worse when they turn around and say that anyone who likes the thing, especially if it's popular, is a mindless sheep who laps up whatever a company throws at them.

I hope I'm not butting in, but it isn't wrong in the least. I believe that it's best to like the things you like and do what makes you happiest regardless of what popular opinion is; I myself like several movies, video games and TV shows that no one else seems to, such as Johnny Test, Captain N, and Bubsy.

1. Overrated means nothing anymore.
2. You're talking to someone with a big ego and bashes any cartoon that doesn't fit his "standards". For example, The Powerpuff Girls, The Simpsons, Steven Universe, etc.
You shouldn't trust this guy. He's a bad boy!

I hear where you're coming from, at least on the second point (not sure why you think "overrated means nothing anymore", but okay), but someone can have views I disagree with/or an abrasive personality and still say things that I do agree with.

Do I care for ToonEGuy's viewpoints? No, but there is an old saying that goes "a stopped clock is right at least twice a day." I do agree that Nostalgia Critic is overrated (or, if you don't like that word, I think Doug's bad at what he does). He doesn't seem to understand what he watches, he makes tons of errors in his reviews, and rather then analyze or intelligently discuss what he's seeing onscreen or the like, he just makes jokes and skits that I personally haven't found funny in years. I honestly don't see how someone could support that man in the wake of what went down at Channel Awesome.

But I respect that. Good day.

Hmm... I can form my own opinions (i.e. I disagree with Nostalgia Critic (played by Doug Walker) on Rover Dangerfield and I like that film because I'm a Rodney Dangerfield fan, if Critic didn't like it, that's fine, I don't care what he thinks).

I don't have to like what everyone likes or hate what everyone hates.

I can form my own opinion... thanks for the tip.

I may sympathize and agree with certain people, and often times they might give me the realization as to why I liked or disliked something (such as why I never liked Chicken Little for example, it always gave me this uncomfortable feeling as a kid and bored me).

But I certainly don't agree with everything, ever since MrEnter made a review on the Town and Out episode of the Powerpuff Girls or Putting Your Hoof Down from MLP, I could never really find myself agreeing with the backlash. I found Town and Out a little boring when I first saw it, but not really hatable... Putting Your Hoof Down has quite an amount of flaws, but I've seen worse...

And his admirables for Speed Demon and Tough Love, they're kinda scary, but I'm not sure about admirable. They're more..interesting than anything.

Also NC likes Adventure Time, I...don't.

I know someone a little like this...
That's true, what you like can be influenced by critics, but critics shouldn't wholly be what forms your opinions. I don't think so, anyway. If you like something and a critic bashes it I think you've got every reason to still like it, if their words don't make you change your mind, that is. And you're right, no person is not the 'be-all say-all of quality' (even if some carry that kind of vibe...)
Β Nice stamp!

THANK YOU!!!!!

Honestly Nostalgia Critic can be funny but he's just overrated these days!

Plus I happen to love a couple of films he reviwed (little Nemo in slumberland and Casper) cuz I can still watch them many times despite a couple of flaws. Plus like DeBair said, he dosent always do his research. (Which is SO TRUE)

People- critics aren't the holy gospel! STOP PARROTING THEM AND FORM YOUR OWN OPINIONS!

πŸ‘: 1 ⏩: 1

DaBair In reply to Roses-and-Feathers [2015-04-05 00:25:30 +0000 UTC]

One could argue that he's become a sellout. He said he'd never do a NC of Small Soldiers, and guess what? He did a NC of that movie last year!

DaBair [2014-01-10 01:53:05 +0000 UTC]

People constantly parrot the Nostalgia Critic, and it gets really annoying. Some of the movies he reviewed really aren't that bad. And he gave a negative review to Sailor Moon. I mean, the English dub had a lot of problems, but the show itself wasn't bad. I agree that the Nostalgia Critic brings up valid points about movies (such as certain cringe-worthy moments in North and the fact that ruling princesses never seem to be called queens). He also doesn't always do the research, like claiming that Doug Funnie went to high school. He's even come out and said that people shouldn't take him seriously.

People SHOULD'NT take the Nostalgia Critic seriously?

Thank you for giving me the tip...a few minutes ago I saw that he reviewed Cars Don't Dance, and I was like, REALLY...now your just pushing it (considering Doug Walker said he wasn't gonna do a Nostalgia Critic on that movie), but now, thank you for making me realize my own mistake.

πŸ‘: 1 ⏩: 0

LittleBlackDragon [2013-05-27 22:01:43 +0000 UTC]

I like reviewers like Nostalgia Critic, Yahtzee, Angry Joe, etc. But, honestly, I don't always agree with them. I often find myself at odds with Yahtzee especially. But, part of it is that my taste in games are quite different from his. But, I think his thoughts about certain aspects of games help me to think about my own favorites in a new light. But I watch and like all of them.

Sometimes I feel bad if they don't like a game I like but you know what? I just need to remind myself that they're people, and everyone's entitled to their opinions, including them and myself.

Thank you so much!

FFVIII is one of my favorite FFs (I haven't finished it yet, though), and Squall is my favorite FF protagonist. And I do want to play FFX in the future (I know there's more to Tidus than his father issues, dammit!). My brother kept parroting Spoony's opinion on the later, and quoted the fucking laughing scene.

As for Yahtzee, I can't stand his reviews. I watched his Sonic Unleashed review one time, which made me die on the inside.
