acrylic on canvas (30cm) 3hrs or so from life, she hates it, makes her look eeevil apparently
just practise though, so she can bugger off 
'scuse the glare, i'm shit with a camera
having a lazy holidays but i will get back to painting in the new year

Glad I'm not the only one who's allergic to photographing canvases. 
Nice to see you using acrylic, actually. (I never was very good with acrylic paint myself, so I'm bowing down to you at your use of it here, that's for sure.) Heh, eeevil, eh? I thought more 'darkly serene'...but eeevil is all good. Her gaze really does shoot right through you, though. You can really feel her presence. It's a little creepy, but moreso it's awesome that you could capture such a feeling on canvas!
I'm loving the colour scheme and the textures, too. Makes me want to reach out and touch it. Which is a bit of a moot point I guess, given it's displayed on a computer screen...but eh, I can dream.
Awesome as always mate - even if it's not quite your usual subject matter.

Nice detail on her lips.
It seems you use really thin paints, 'cuz the texture of the canvas is still visible in a lot of places. Personally I like to use thick paints. ^^ but it's kind of cool to have the texture in the shaded area, makes interesting effect.

Flatness is my biggest issue. Plus you've fallen into the trap of overshading the sides of the nose... especially on the side when the light is coming in...
For a compositional trick, I recommend a little strand of hair to fall in front of her eyes, that always generates more interest.
You seem to have grasped the lips, which is always my hardest feature. Bastard. And the general mouth shading is great. Perhaps little indents at the sides of her mouth indicating just a SLIGHT smile?
Relating back to the depth issues, the shading around the eyes doesn't fit in with the general face shading at ALL.

Acryllic, really? :shock: I can't wait to learn acryllics so they turn out like that. It has a really blended look--my first guess was chalk pastels for the medium.

It does make her look evil, and that's what makes it really good... the entire expression matches, the lips and the eyes go together very well to create an impression of someone quite cold, dark and impenetrable. I guess some people might not like those sorts of qualities to be implied by their portrait, but it's still very, very good. +fav

Nice tones, acrylics are horible for tones like that, they dry so damn fast, I like the colours and the eyes and lips good work, who ever "she" is, she looks anything but evil
