For me the series murdered itself after A Hero's Tail for PS2 and even then it was vastly different from the PS1 trilogy. The gameplay was sloppily done in the New Beginning trilogy and frankly the art style was not to my liking. The first game felt too short and I did not like some of the new elements they added. I didn't mind the more traditional fantasy-driven approach however. Had the gameplay not felt so repetitive I might've quite enjoyed it.

I agree with the new games sucking. I stopped playing them after they left the original PlayStation (1-3 are the best, although some glitch happened in my 3rd game where I can't get the last egg I need and I've beaten the butterflies GOD KNOWS how many times.)

I agree with you. Classic Spyro was a BIG part of my childhood. The Legend series I don't remember playing one of the games (if I have I might have played A New Beginning,) but those games are awesome as well. But Skylanders is probably my favorite of the series. And the main reason is because of SPYRO! I never thought that he would be back after Dawn of the Dragon, but he's been brought back to life. He may look different, but I still love him no matter what he looks like.

I miss the old classic Spyro games. I would beat all three games every summer hah
Even though the design and how his personality changed annoyed me, I tried playing the newer ones but the thing that made me sad the most is they don't even have the original characters in the new ones like Moneybags, Ripto, Gnasty Gnorc, Hunter, and other awesome characters (from what I've played). I actually liked how they have a plot and whatnot in the new ones but I just wished they incorporated some of the old characters.

Only good thing about the new games is the ability to constantly fly. I don't even follow the plot line I just fly around in circles. Plus I hate his new voice... Just no.
I miss the old Spyro games. I didn't have the platform for them until I was older and couldn't find the game. I would usually just go to my friend's house and watch her play or play it at her place.
