Description All questions and concerns you really want answered/replied to should be directed to my main account, =neekko . I do not check messages often here.

After the release of the Critique Not Desired stamp, a few people asked me if there will ever be a pro-crit stamp that would be as epic as that one. My reply? Maybe. I dunno, you guys decide. I hope it is.

After much thinking, I thought up this one during my winter break, but decided to wait until I was back in SD to do it, due to lack of resources. Took less time than the first stamp, surprisingly.

I am a supporter of constructive criticism. I like knowing if I did something wrong, that way I can change it, instead of just letting the error be and have people go "WTF?". My art is rarely critiqued, even by teachers, which is why I tend to get whiny when I receive no comments or when people tell me I'm perfect and God-like. So please, help your fellow artists. We won't bite (well, some of us won't). If they ask for it, give 'em advice and suggestions. Just don't degrade them by telling them they suck. No one sucks, we just have different skill levels.

Well, enjoy!

Not all Anime does suck because hasΒ anime, which we reallyΒ can accept like: Digimon, Yokai Watch, Sailor Moon, Oreimo Doremi, Pretty Cure, Beyblade, Sonic, PokΓ©mon, Dragon Ball, Doraemon, Studio Ghibli, Cardcaptor Sakura and others gems or underrated good anime.
But don't watch like Naruto, K-On, One Piece, Haruhi Suzumiya, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Bleach, Fairy Tail and others.

Oh, how much I absolutely agree with this. I especially hate how people just give whatever picture 5 stars just because they think it is amazing. That makes it even worse since others think that it is a fair critique and press the fair button instead of the unfair button. People who written down "this sucks" for their critique are no good either, but the people who write down stuff like "best picture ever" and give it 5 stars makes me cringe. Even some people dislike constructive criticism and press the unfair button. >_>

Β

This is definitely going into my stamp collection.

I'd love to be able to criticize, but I don't know what other people's reactions would be, and worry that I'm talking about something completely different to what I mean. Constructive criticism is really rare and precious, even here, which I find a little sad, since this is meant to be an art community. I really want to be able to write something that will (hopefully) help other people become better artists and writers. Maybe I'll try some day... And my English teacher never gave any constructive criticism to me.

peadragon [2011-08-13 03:46:53 +0000 UTC]

I don't often criticise other people's art because I'm not confident that I know enough about art to know what I'm talking about. But when I comment that I love a piece of art I will go into detail about what parts I love which is a form of constructive feedback... My teacher in a creative writing course would never criticise anything (except for correcting grammar/spelling/punctuation), she would just give us feedback in the form of her reactions to our writing and what it made her feel and think so that we knew how other people would experience it and react to it and we could be sure those reactions were the ones we were going for. I think it was a good system that showed me constructive feedback doesn't always need to be critical

It's nice to get constructive criticism but this stamp seems to imply that every single person ever has to give a huge detailed account of the pros and cons of your art. I think that's a bit over the top to expect. :/

Sorry, but I don't totally agree with you and your stamp. I would be very happy if I got comments like "awesome". Of course, giving constructive critism is the best way of showing someone that you took some time to look at someones art. But if someone writes that he totaly loves your art you should also be happy. I mean, that shows that your art is good enough to make others happy. An what else should be the cause of producing art? And then you are not the one who needs critism the most. No, the other millions of artists who upload loads of art but never get a comment because it's not good enough to be seen and can't get better because none tells them how to, they are the one who need critism the most. But that's only my oppinion.

Well my critique may very depending on art.

Most of the time I like to view art but don't make any comment. But if I find an art which looked interesting, I'll say, but I don't usually put in a lot of effort.

Mostly I say that because I don't know how to explain art in detail. I tried not to put in criticism, but that's just me ya know? Unless if there's something like an error or two, I'll tell them. I am a constructive person in some sort.

Now when it comes to a certain piece of art, and if it lifts my mood up, heck I'll be glad to make a big review. To me, all artwork should be respected as long if they're good. I'm not trying to say every art is bad, there are some good qualities.

Hard to explain? Well to put it short: I review art with positiveness and enjoy art, as well to share with some tips or recommendations. Call me a critic if you like, cause your stamp rules! ^^

You might get better results if you paste "I only want advanced critiques, please." or something like that. Perhaps somewhere in the picture itself or in bold pop-up letters all over your own comments to the effect of, "I was going for a particular effect or message with this drawing, did I achieve that?"

The upside is, that if people post simple emotional responses, they're letting you know how your work effected them. Which is perhaps superior to no communication at all.

However I do see the point that if this is the only response you get, then it doesn't inform you as to why the audience likes or dislikes your art.

Oh ... and I like your stamp.
