tbh i've seen way too many people complain about smoky's design saying "they're ugly!" or "they're too fat!"
honestly, what the fuck were you people expecting? a fusion looking like opal/garnet/sardonyx/rainbow quartz? both steven and amethyst have stubby builds, of course their fusion is gonna be fat, jfc
and as for the 3 arms, i can understand how it throws some people off, honestly i don't mind it as much but i think the 3 arms is supposed to represent how amethyst and steven are the "worst gems".
and for the weapon... i've seen people bitch about that as well. again, what the fuck were you expecting? a whip + shield would clearly make a yo-yo, good god (though i guess it could've been nunchuks, but who cares?)
and plus, you people were complaining about how badly you wanted steven to fuse with a gem be grateful
"but wahhhh i dont want some fat kid with a yoyo wahhhhh" oh my god get over it
and its hilarious how the fandom will endlessly harass someone for drawing a character thinner than depicted on the show but then complain about a character 'being too fat' fandom logic :/

As for the three arms, it's more to show how in-sync Β Steven and Amethyst are. Is everyone forgetting what most fusions look like? Four arms andΒ entirely too many eyes! Smoky's just got one extra forearm because of how well Steven and Amethyst mesh together; they have very littleΒ in the way of parts that couldn't combine.

There's actually a theory that the more humanoid a gem is, the better they are together.

They're so incredibly humanoid.
The only reason they have one arm is because they have the desire to act different, but the reason they have no extra eyes is because they see things the same way.

Both Steven and Amethyst call themselves that in an episode, they actually get in a fight over it. Stampy-Sweet means that the Smokey isn't meant to be flawless and well planned like the others whom have fused before. I actually think the third arm makes her more interesting than the others

The third arm threw me off but it helps with use of the yo-yo. Smoky is a pretty cool fusion, and I lovethefact that Steven and Amethyst are in tune enough to only grab each others hand to fuse.

Its suppose to be unique in Steven and Amethyst being sort of "odd one out gems" or "incomplete" like Stevens a hybrid and Ame's other cooked. I mean to be fair a part of me would prefer if the 3rd arm was on her back like some kind of scorpion tail gimmick thing but other then that I think it works.Β
Though if your asking whyΒ StevonnieΒ doesn't have multiple arms, I guess artistically that would just look freakier on a mostly human character or the fusion has its limits. Or there relationship is like Garnet's Β

u g h. I know people are saying ' their personality is to bland' ' their to fat' ' and all of that, but to me, they're fuckign perfect. I know they don't have the rockin' body of Rainbow Quartz, or the strength of Sugilite, but they're unique in their own way. ALL of the fusions are unique in their own way. I hope they get more character development in the near future, and get featured more in the show.Β
