Description Sorta a series I guess you could say. This is inspired by the greed in this world, or perhaps just America. I find it sorta sad that America has alot of money whereas other countries maybe do not so. There is poverty in America and with this President it has much more chances of becoming even more prevailent. Working at the grocery store has taught me so much about humanity and moneys coexistence. I am sadly a penny collector. Pennies can add up. I am cheap because I sorta have to be. I am not rich. Many people leave their change after buying groceries, especially pennies, they do not care about the small change. Only problem is they put that money right back into the corporate grocery store. All the change adds up! But when it comes to big bills they want it all.
Other people, homeless, hungry, or third world countries, would love those added up pennies. Ask any guy standing their with a cup downtown begging for "change"
But when it comes to big bills we all get greedy. Money is what runs the world. Big money runs the people.

money money money...personally i hate it, but in todays world its a necessary evil. People dont even believe you when you tell them that you dont care about money!!!
Its become as default as breathing...pretty sad

Well thing is because in a sense we all do care about money. Take a look at if you had none what so ever...You might care about it then. Or at least not take it for granted when you happen to come upon some. We all use money, more than we should. I wish we didn't but its a sad fact. In the US we are sold the belief that the more NEW products you buy the happier you will be, the less bored you will be. But it creates a cycle, because there is always something new!!! I just wish the gov't and the corporations that support it were not so greedy. They could stop spending money on sending troops to god knows where searching for god knows what, and start sending money to AIDS funds they promised or schools that are left behind. And they can stop petitioning to lower taxes for the rich and give it to the dAmn homeless. I get angry thinking about it, so best to keep this semi short.
I am glad you like the photo, I really appreciate the fav Always good to see like minded people around!

Hmm, thing is money is a subject that we could discuss from hours and hours. The problem lies withen us, do we have the courage to give up all worldly things we pocess? NO, its just that it sounds good when someone says that "One person can start a revolution", but i have kind of given hope on it actually hapenning in todays time. Things and people dont change, somehow i just cant figure how how people dont realize that all this technology and money and inventions we make dont do us any good, come to think of it, we have internet and space probs on Mars and we have people dying in Africa of hunger...just does not make sence.

StareDecisis In reply to shashank [2005-07-14 06:36:02 +0000 UTC]

exactly. Well put. I find it ironic that the country with the most money will lend its armies but won't lend its cash flow. Yeah we can but into peoples business when we feel it is convenient but we can't if its only convenient for them. Sad world. It does take one to start...but it s very hard to get a flow going...people are generally lazy, and I am not one to talk.

I like to collect up the change people leave and put it in a donation tin

I love the concept behind this photo, and well the photo itself is stunning! There isnt really anything more I can add to it haha, because you have said it all so eloquently with your picture! Great job! My only complaint perhaps is that it is a little close to the right hand border... But that is insignificant!!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StareDecisis In reply to Meaner [2005-05-25 06:23:25 +0000 UTC]

I know, I wish is was cut off a little bit differently on the border, but in the end I just kept it. I actually just ordered a print to see it in a 14by8 or whatever the size is, and it actually turned out pretty cool. Although In a bigger print, the space looks like it should have text, something pertaining to poverty or something. I appreciate the fav and the kind comments and critique!

wow.. u r such a thinker. i like the concept but i was only able to read the description becase the photo is equally good. how did u get this effect over a white background. i love the shadow underneatch the bill

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StareDecisis In reply to illuxon [2005-05-13 06:25:27 +0000 UTC]

Well the white background is just by using slower shutter speed to get more white and to also use higher contrast. I cant remember if I used a flash at all But I think I also might have dodged it in Photoshop. But it is just a paper background with high lighting.

The title is very matching to the piece... somehow i think words + images give a whole set of other meanings that never need to be implicitly stated. Good work.

StareDecisis In reply to osirusman [2005-05-04 17:09:03 +0000 UTC]

thanx for the kind words. I appreciate that Im glad you liked it. The title is what makes the image my own thoughts.

cyanchrome [2005-04-14 03:22:19 +0000 UTC]

It's almost as if my shot and yours go hand in hand..kinda sorta

The fact that this is so simplistic makes it appealing and the message stands on its own. Had you even left it without a description I think people would understand the meaning here. I enjoy the abtractness..its just different seeing the focal point in the bottom right corner.

All in all I totally dig it, money can present such great themes, this is certainly one of those examples

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StareDecisis In reply to cyanchrome [2005-04-14 03:48:37 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, well I wanted the focal point to be a quarter of the picture. I wanted the rest to seem clean rather than dirty like trash. Sorta a representation of how money can make clean places dirty. Thank you for the comments I appreciate them all. And the fav was not expected as everyone seemed to love submerge and trash we all pick up best, while I still like the trail of greed...lol

spazzirifick [2005-04-04 04:08:57 +0000 UTC]

money are greed are two of the most corrupt things in our world. we place so much emphasis on material possessions and how much money we have that we overlook more important things. people with little money always seem happeier to me, dont know why, but they do. they find what they need out of life and what is most important. i envy them in that respect. we live in such a geredy world :shakesfist: great pic btw, so simple, yet so meaningful.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StareDecisis In reply to spazzirifick [2005-04-04 16:07:17 +0000 UTC]

thank you, well said! I think that alot of times the poor can be more happy because they do not know the feeling of material goods. In a rich society, being poor can make people feel unhappy due to the structure of things. They always have to struggle to survive and maintain proper living. Welfare is insane. The cost of living is insane.

thank you. Im glad people like the concept on this one. I think it is because everyone sorta can feel this concept in some perspective. It is something all around us, something, no matter which nation, we all use, abuse, and lose.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Aj07 In reply to StareDecisis [2005-03-29 07:55:21 +0000 UTC]

Very true, I truly think money is the main cause many nations leave in destruction and poverty makes u feel bad for owning such a destructive wepaon in your hand

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StareDecisis In reply to Aj07 [2005-03-31 03:31:55 +0000 UTC]

oh nice concept. I will have to do something with that! I love the weapon idea. It is true though. It can cause such harm to nations expecially when other nations are spoiled rich.
