Meet the Vulptera!
First off, the name is pronounced "vuhl-terra;" the "p" is silent, as in "pterodactyl." :3

This is a fox-like species that has bat-like wings and ears, a very long tail, fluffy fur, long claws, fangs, and big, bright eyes. c:

I covered most of this specie's physical and personality traits in this reference. However, I didn't talk about where they live so I'll say it here;

Vulpteras prefer to live in heavily forested areas in dark caves. They rarely come out of their caves during the day, as their large eyes are very sensitive to light. At night, Vulpteras roam the forest in search of small rodents, such as mice. They may also take to the skies and feed on small birds and insects.

Vulpteras also come in the extremely rare angelic and demonic forms.

Here are some of their most important characteristics:

Huge eyes that give them exceptional night vision.
Large bat-like ears with great hearing; they allow them to receive echolocation signals from other Vulpteras.
Sharp fangs that can be used to drain the blood from prey.
Long, sharp claws that are not retractable.
Thick, fluffy fur, especially on the mane and tail.
A long tail that helps them remain stable in flight.
A dog-like tongue, except for in demonic form, which has a forked tongue.

Angelic form characteristics:
Visible halo
Feathered wings
Slightly shorter tail than normal
Permanently dilated pupils

Demonic form characteristics:
Two horns
Forked tongue
Pointed tail with no fur
Strong, dragonlike wings
Permanently contracted pupils

Vulpteras may also have the following rare characteristics:
(yellow= rare, red= very rare)

Angelic Form (Usually has blue eyes)
Demonic Form (Usually has red eyes)
Ear notches/tears
Curly tails
Orange, Yellow, Red, Purple, Green, or Cyan eyes.
Unnatural fur colors (blue, purple, orange, etc.)
Ear tears
Half-floppy ears
Multiple tails

I may add to this later as I get more ideas.

I'll create some adoptables eventually, and I am considering making breeding possible with these as well as MYO slots.

This is a closed species, but by no means am I going to be strict about its attributes. I understand that many people will probably get the idea of putting wings on a fox, and that is fine; I don't want to restrict anyone's art in any way. However, I do ask that you respect this as species, and that you do not copy directly off of this design's anatomy. There are many distinct characteristics that make this a Vulptera, and it would be easy to tell if someone copied it intentionally or if they were just drawing their own idea. ^^ Any negative, non constructive comments will be hidden. I say this because my last idea for a closed species got quite a lot of negativity and those types of comments are just a waste of my time to deal with. Advice as to how I can improve this species is always welcome. <3
