Lots of drama in the sky makes it look a foreboding place to have to fly into, great photo.

The sky was really cooperative that day. We'd have blue skies with fluffy clouds one minute, and then a little bit later it would be completely overcast. It made for a lot of great photo opportunities. This year's fly-in is happening October 8th, and I hope to see this Corsair again. Word is there will be over 100 aircraft this time!

Thanks man! I have always loved aircraft, especially warbirds! The pilot of that Corsair said that they're planning another fly in for October of this year....supposed to have dozens of planes and maybe a few bombers too. And Pappy Boyington was the man!

oh man thats so cool. my favorite plane of all time has to be the boeing B-17 flying fortress. we will never see better pilots than the ones that served in ww2 because it much more skill to fly those machines. all the math, flight plans, wind speed and direction, everything was done manually and that takes a high level on concentration and skill that is now being run by computers. its all truly amazing stuff.

The B-17 was an amazing bird....I don't think we're going to have one at the airport this year but I will definitely let you know once I know for sure.
About this time last year we had a B-24 stop by for the weekend and they were offering rides in it for a small fortune. Unfortunately I didn't have time to take any pics of it up close, but I did manage to get a few as it flew over my parent's farm.
