Muffled laughter could be heard from Unchecked Rain's room, the result of a particularly funny line in the Daring Do book that Rainbow had been reading aloud to the excited little foal. The Rainbow pony had set aside few minutes for her Rainy this morning before she had to get ready and head over to the academy (as she did every morning), and today they had been eagerly waiting on their bed with a book in hoof. Rainbow had happily obliged in the foal's request to 'read a chapter or two', but before the two had known it, it was time for the multicolored pegasus to get ready to start her day. It was never any less difficult for the pegasus to pull herself away from her time with her kid, but it had to be done. She had duties, responsibilities.

"Alright, kiddo. I've got to start getting ready - I'll see you tonight when I get home." She smooched the top of their head, acknowledging the disappointed 'aaaaw' that they let out, before turning to leave. She heard their mumbled response "Love you too," and gave a little smile, before moving to open the door. A quiet sound made her screech to a halt though. A quiet sigh, a tiny hiccup. A sniffle. Were they... she turned around. They were crying, her foal was crying. Instantly swept with maternal instincts, she trotted over to her 'baby'. "Sweetie? Honey, what's wrong?" That was a stupid question. The little blue foal looked to her with large, sad eyes.

"I d-don't want you to go, mama. Y-you're never-"home anymore. "I-I miss you."

Rainbow then realized what the heck was going on and apologized profusely, before she called in sick and stayed home with her kiddo. She kind of learns to manage her time better after this

Anyhoo, Rainbow is always very busy with work, which leaves her little time for her family, which she dislikes-very much so. She doesn't quiet realize how badly her baby yearns for her attention or misses her until they break into tears one day, distraught over her leaving for the academy. I'm a crappy writer so I didn't properly integrate that but I pROMISE I'll get better
