About a year or so ago, ~Mooglemasher and I had been playing Metroid Prime, and we talked about what things would be like if a huge Phazon meteor crashed into our hometown, and we came up with some mutant animals that would roam the radiation-blasted wasteland. One of them is the Slithersquirrel, a squirrel that has acquired carnivorous, snake-like habits. Its tail has become hypertrophied, used for locomotion, and equipped with a "rattle" made of spines. It also has two wing-shaped clusters of spines on its back, which flare open when the animal is angry or scared, rather like a cobra's hood. It eats anything made of meat, but especially enjoys eating brains from skulls, and will kill another slithersquirrel or a shreegull for brains.Related content

Ahh, your attention to details is most enjoyable! Wing shaped clusters for threatening purposes, that was undoubtedly my favorite part about the description! The drawing also lives up to the description: it's still cute enough to remind you of a squirrel, but it's creepy and evil-looking enough for you to avoid it as a snake. The kind of creature only the most evil organization evil boss is able to turn into a loyal pet, whom he uses to cuttle and kill any servant who doesn't do his bidding... excellent!
