I feel so proud of myself! This has got to be one of my favorite creations! Not only am I getting better at rollcakes and photography, I figured out a way to color my cake pink which is harder than it seems. XD

I used a base recipe I found online but changed a few things-- I try to do that in other recipe to make things healthier, but majority of the time, the food tastes good but doesn't look good for a photo. (Sugar and fat tend to make the beautiful cracks or textures you see in baked goods. I tend to reduce those... partly because I'm curious what would happen and also because I wince sometimes if the amount is a lot... like really a lot).

Fresh strawberries become brown when you put them in cakes. This one is a mix of natural and artificial colors, but I think I found the right balance. I think it's possible to use more natural color, but since it takes a larger amount to color the batter, it messes up the liquid to solid ratio.

Anyway, sorry I tend to be vague. I'm hesitant to start a food blog because I need tor research more on food recipe copyright issues.

EDIT August 6, 2012 - I have a new tablet and noticed a difference in color between my tablet and desktop. This photo was more vibrant and pink in my desktop whereas its a bit muted in my tablet. If anyone thinks my photos are a bit dull or less vibrant as compared to your favorite food pics on the web, please let me know. Maybe I'm doing something wrong and need to work harder on photo editing...
