Someday I will decompose and become dirt for the trees...Colored pencils on oil wash
There a lot of problems with this, starting with a lack of contrast and the lack of a spatial feel -- it looks flat (every time I try to darken the foreground and lighten the background, the color pencil fades away after a day, haha)

Never have tried a oil + colored pencil approach. I imagine it would be fairly difficult. If you were to use less saturated colors in the background and heavily saturate the images you want to advance in the visual plane, more depth would definitely be achieved.

The highlights are superb. She's transparent, being absorbed into the trees. Very verdant; out of decay comes life.
