4th in my series of young finnish men. i am looking for the essence of finnishness in them.---
Otto is the brother of my bf, so i have known him for some years now. he studies architecture, and i think it can be seen, my pleasure is to try and illustrate that in this photo. he's into high culture stuff, fine wines and french art films... i personally find him open minded and humorous, someone easy to be with. he's so enthusiastic about many things, i never cease to admire it, that and the intelligence makes him ideal for endless conversations. what i liked about this picture is the straghtforwardness and honest feel it has, both very finnish in my opinion. i think he's 27 at the moment.

I have been browsing through your gallery just now and I came across this portrait in the series you were doing. I must say that this is quite a handsome picture. I really enjoy the lighting you got with it and I really like the personality that comes through by his pose. I think it's also quite obvious that I find him to be quite attractive. His love for culture? French films? OH why am I all the way over here in America? I think I'm in love! :3

I've seen a lot of your work on DA that's very nice and has tons of comments, but I'm surprised this doesn't have more. The lighting and composition on this is really great, I would put this in my top 20 best portraits. +fav.

this doesnt really suprise me, but.. only when i look at europian and american men i understand how eastern i look. uhm, even though my family came from from germany and romania. i dont know. its alittle wierd to look eastern.. haha
im talking bullshit. this is a very nice picture. a fashion photographer is defiantly the job for you.
and yeah, he does look finnish.. though im not sure i could tell a german/dutch/belgian from a finnish,

wow...sheesh, what can i say? I could look at that pic for the longest time.... Couldn't say much about him capturing the very best of the finnish escence, i've never met a finnish guy...unfortunately...! What i can say is that he's soooo pretty, his hair, and his clothes, and his posture, and i love his glasses too. And he does not look like 27 at all.

its a very nice picture, like from a magazine or a book, your lighting is lovely, very nice.
hmmm wow, he actually reminds me of myself. Makes sense though, a lot of my family came from Scandinavia or so Im told. Spooky.

I like this portrait quite a bit, it's almost text book.. the black and white suits him well, and the lighting is amazing. very clear cut looking guy.. doesn't seem like he'd be nasty in any way..

I do like this series (for obvious reasons) and find it very intriguing. I love the honesty you approach the subject with. This one, to me, definately seems like a proper finnish 'archetype'. The intellectual and gentle one, found in all big university cities. The pose is *so* good, at the same time protective and shielding, but still facing the camera with almost a challenging look. And as far as technical merits go, I think everything about this portrait is spot on.

all those qualities that you have listed including intelligence, honesty, and straightforwardness are only a small doze of those that I see in him from this magnificent photograph. sophistication, self confidence and good sense of humour are also amongst them,

the first think i thought of when i saw the galsses, the expression and the sweater was sophisticated ... don't ask me why cause i really don't know but i guess it's mainly his expression...
oh and another thing i noticed: (could be completely wrong) your style looks more and more 'sophisticated', too. i'm so sorry cause i cannot explain properly what the mere word 'sophisticated' means to me but concerning your style it's more... ripe maybe?

Wow I'm glad I'm getting to meet all these beautiful men through your photography! This is such a proffesional shot, his personality really seems to shine through it. Awsome portriate. I love your portriates because, like you said, you try and bring meaning and to them to describ the indiviuals, even with simple poses. I lvoe that, most people just get others to sit and take the picture. Very well done.
